Celent Communications recently surveyed senior insurance executives to learn about the IT priorities, behaviors, initiatives, and infrastructures at U.S. insurance companies. Participants—mostly CIOs and CTOs from U.S. insurance organizations with annual premiums of more than $100 million—completed the survey. Key findings include:

The perceived value of .NET has outpaced that of J2EE in many areas.

.NET is preferred on a 2:1 ratio for ease of use and as a basis for Web services.

.NET leads in ease of finding trained developers and packaged solutions.

Mainframe migration continues with 52 percent planning to reduce mainframe capacity.
