Unified communications for government IT with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007
Government agencies today communicate in more ways than ever before. Although most of these communications technologies work well independently, their disconnected approach can lead to poor collaborative experiences, slow response times, and expensive management costs. To be more productive, your workforce must be able to access and manage all of its communications over the Internet—in a familiar environment, across a range of devices.
With Office Communications Server 2007 R2, agencies can streamline communications using the devices and applications that their people use most often. From rich presence and enterprise instant messaging (IM) to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and video conferencing, Office Communications Server 2007 R2 helps the right people quickly get in touch with each other so that they can get more work done, make better-informed decisions, and deliver improved citizen experiences.
In addition, the Microsoft Unified Communications platform is now on the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) JITC Approved Product List at the PBX2 classification. This means that DoD customers can start replacing single-function PBX voice systems with a comprehensive solution combining PBX voice, video, web conferencing, IM, and presence from within just one unified communications platform, helping to reduce both capital and operational total cost of ownership.
Facilitate and unify communications
Offering rich presence awareness, Office Communications Server 2007 R2 helps your teams quickly find the people they need and helps determine the best way to reach them. Enterprise-class instant messaging helps you start conversations immediately and lets you copy and paste text from Microsoft Office applications into those conversations. In addition, multiple-party audio and video conferencing and enterprise voice and telephony features can help your workforce improve productivity, collaboration, and coordination in the field.
Amplify visibility and control
Office Communications Server 2007 R2 provides rich integration with existing infrastructure requirements, helping you to better manage costs. Built-in filtering and spam IM (SPIM) control, the ability to restrict user functions, and Web link and document exchange help your agency keep communications secure and available. Office Communications Server 2007 R2 also helps simplify compliance with internal and regulatory controls, such as archiving and managing communications.
Provide an extensible communications platform
Office Communications Server 2007 R2 delivers an extensible communications platform that offers you the flexibility to integrate with your existing messaging and telephony infrastructure, including many third-party telephony solutions. The extensible software foundation enables your developers to easily build communications-enabled applications, business processes, and workflows to help your agency adapt to changing business needs.
