Microsoft Software Donation Program

Updated: April 27, 2004

Microsoft's software donation program is intended to support Microsoft's philanthropic objectives, which consist of these focus areas:

Enriching peoples lives through enhanced technology access;

Strengthening nonprofits through technology;

Expanding and diversifying the technology workforce;

Building vibrant communities.

Currently, all U.S.-based nonprofit organizations can take advantage of a single streamlined process for requesting and receiving software. Through this new and improved process, more nonprofits will have access to more of Microsoft's software products. Key benefits include:

Expedient fulfillment of software donation requests.

Request up to 6 titles and 50 licenses per title.

Increased selection of titles to choose from (more than 35).

Access to TechSoup.org's expanded nonprofit technology support resources.

Software assurance for eligible software titles. This program assures free upgrades during the two-year Software Assurance Agreement.

Making Software Requests

Find out if your organization is eligible by reviewing the giving guidelines.

If your organization meets our eligibility criteria, visit our nonprofit partner TechSoup. Your organization is eligible to make one donation request every two years. There is no membership fee to access TechSoup, but a small administrative fee from TechSoup will apply to each order.

If your nonprofit organization does not meet Microsoft's eligibility guidelines, or you need to request additional software, Microsoft has a Charity Open License program available for nonprofit organizations. Charity Open License allows nonprofit organizations to purchase Microsoft software and licenses at a substantially reduced cost. For information on this program, see the Microsoft Charity Open License Web site.
