Speaker Bios
General session keynote speakers
Geoffrey Moore, Managing Director at TCG Advisors, divides his time between consulting on strategy with senior executives and developing mental models to support this practice. Moore has acted as an advisor to companies such as Cisco Systems, Oracle, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, and many other high tech companies. Prior to his work with TCG Advisors, Moore was a partner at Regis McKenna Inc., and a sales-and-marketing executive for Rand Information Systems, Enhansys, and Mitem.
Moore is also a best-selling author. Many of his works, including Dealing with Darwin: How Great Companies Innovate at Every Phase of Their Evolution, Crossing the Chasm, Inside the Tornado, The Gorilla Game, and Living on the Fault Line, are considered required reading at leading business schools.
Todd Holmdahl, Corporate Vice President of the IEB Hardware and Technology at Microsoft Corporation, is responsible for the design, engineering, testing, and manufacturing of all Xbox consoles worldwide. In addition, Holmdahl is in charge of compliance and corporate citizenship related to all Microsoft hardware products.
Holmdahl has played an instrumental role in growing the Xbox program. Holmdahl helped create the vision for the program; led the console design, development, and manufacturing effort; and recruited and developed an exceptionally talented team.
Holmdahl joined Microsoft after working at Fluke Corporation on handheld test equipment engineering. Before assuming his role with Xbox, Holmdahl was involved in the introduction of the Microsoft Wheel Mouse and Microsoft Optical Mouse.
Janelle Monney is Senior Vice President of Business Operations, Corporate Communications, and Marketing Services for Freescale Semiconductor, the global leader in embedded processing solutions. She has worked in the semiconductor industry for more than 25 years.
Monney oversees day-to-day operations at the corporate level, and she has management responsibility for the Information Technology and Quality organizations at Freescale. In addition, she is in charge of global corporate communications, branding, and business group communications.
Monney previously worked for Motorola's semiconductor business and led the global sales team from 2001–2004. She was the key driver to improve Motorola's customer on-time delivery to be among the best in the industry. Prior to Motorola, Jan worked for National Semiconductor for 11 years.
In 2005, Stuart Pann became the co-General Manager of the Customer Fulfillment, Planning and Logistics group at Intel Corporation. This group is responsible for the supply chain and business management functions for all Intel microprocessor and chipset operations. He also co-manages the overall sales infrastructure and operations teams for the Intel sales force.
Previously at Intel, Pann was Vice President of the Desktop Platforms Group and director of Microprocessor Marketing and Business Planning. He was responsible for microprocessor and chipset pricing, demand forecasting, and sales strategies.
Pann joined Intel in 1981. From 1994 to 1999, he managed several Fortune 500 company sales accounts. Prior to that, he managed a Midwest sales district and ran Intel's U.S. automotive sales efforts.
Tyler Bryson oversees Microsoft's sales, solution, marketing, and partner strategy for the manufacturing industry, which represents more than 1,000 enterprise accounts across the United States—including the high tech, oil and gas, automotive, and consumer goods industries.
With more than 15 years of experience in the manufacturing segment, Bryson has most recently been directing Microsoft's high tech industry customer segment. Prior to joining Microsoft, Bryson was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for QuickStart Technologies.
Bryson's industry team is focused on helping manufacturing companies enable their people to improve value chain performance, speed product development, improve operational performance, and build customer centricity.

Hau Lee is the Thoma Professor of Operations, Information, and Technology at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Lee is a recognized expert in supply chain management and is a co-director of the Stanford Global Supply Chain Forum and director of Managing Your Supply Chain for Global Competitiveness. He is a co-founder of several technology companies and serves on the boards of private and public companies. Lee received his B.S. from Hong Kong University, an M.S. from the London School of Economics, and an M.S. and his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
Catherine Carey is the business-to-business (B2B) Sales Strategy Manager at Texas Instruments (TI), leading worldwide activities to develop and realize new B2B automation for TI as a major semiconductor supplier to the high tech industry.
With 23 years of supply chain experience in the high tech industry, Carey spent 18 of those years with Motorola Semiconductor developing her supply chain knowledge and execution skills in a variety of roles, including procurement, master and factory planning, and demand management. With degrees in Operations and Logistics, International Business, and Latin American Studies from Arizona State University, Carey has also served on the RosettaNet executive council and EIDX board of directors.
Linda Pfost is the Director for Enterprise Collaboration Engineering in Intel's Information Technology (IT) group. She is responsible for leading business transformation and information solutions in the areas of voice/data/video conferencing, unified communications, messaging, social media, asynchronous collaboration capabilities, and the physical meeting spaces within Intel.
Pfost joined Intel in 1978. She possesses an extensive background within Intel and has held increasingly responsible positions in several organizations at the company. Over the years she has worked in manufacturing production control and held business planning management positions in Strategic Accounts Operations, the Microprocessor Division, and the Peripheral Chip Set Division. Within IT, Pfost has led development teams for numerous sales and marketing applications including leading Intel's first implementation of SAP. Prior to her current position she managed Intel's internal consulting organization.
Herbert Brecheis is the Vice President of Supply Chain Management (SCM) Processes and Tools at ABB with global responsibilities for business intelligence, spend transparency, supplier collaboration, e-procurement, e-sourcing, and knowledge management. He has a publicly recognized track record of providing differentiating enablers for the ABB supply chain management strategy and its operational execution.
In addition, Brecheis is the sponsor of ABB's global transport and logistics team.
Breakout session: Driving Operational Excellence
Colin Masson brings more than 20 years of experience with a strong foundation in real-time manufacturing technologies and applications to his role as a research director within AMR Research's Value Chain Strategies Service. He specializes in operations excellence, demand-driven manufacturing, and the chemical- and asset- intensive process industries.
Masson has leveraged his background aligning manufacturing and corporate information technology with his experience architecting real-time enterprise systems to evangelize and define Manufacturing 2.0 as a critical market need that overcomes traditional manufacturing execution system/enterprise resource planning (MES/ERP) limitations.
Masson began his career with National Chemical Products, a division of Sentrachem (now a Dow Chemical subsidiary), in plant operations. His 14 years at National Chemical Products culminated with his role as chief information officer.
Giridhar Chodavarapu, Director of Business Applications at Finisar since March 2007, is responsible for managing enterprise resource planning (ERP), manufacturing execution systems (MES), portal, and other business applications. He joined Finisar in July 2001 and has previously served as Senior Database Architect and Manager of Application Development. Chodavarapu has more than 13 years' experience in technical architecture, software engineering, and project management.
Robert Rudder is the Senior Vice President of Global Sales and
Marketing at Camstar, Inc.. He began his 17-year career with GE
Fanuc before starting and growing his own business providing
manufacturing automation solutions.
Rudder has worked with MES Systems, Supply Chain Management,
Manufacturing e-business initiatives and has developed
collaborative models in the electronics and industrials markets.
Rudder is serving his third term on the MESA (Manufacturing
Enterprise Solution Association) Board, is a two-time finalist for
North Carolina Entrepreneur of the Year, and has been quoted in
various industry-related publications, such as Software Strategies,
Fortune, Intelligent Enterprise, and MSI.
Kim Hammonds is Director of Reliability, Factory Controls/Automation and Custom Fulfillment Applications at Dell. She is responsible for delivering improved manufacturing, procurement, and product group and human resources systems reliability, as well as systems development and delivery and support for factory controls/automation systems and custom fulfillment applications.
Before joining Dell in 2007, Hammonds had worked for Ford Motor Company for 16 years in various product engineering, manufacturing, quality, and marketing leadership roles. Her last position at Ford Motor Company was Director of Manufacturing Systems for North America, supporting 48 plants and their manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and production systems.
Intel Fellow Devadas (Dev) Pillai is the Director of Operational Decision Support Technology in the Logic Technology Development group. He is currently responsible for development and proliferation of manufacturing simulation technology and mathematical modeling and optimization capabilities across Intel's wafer fabrication, assembly, and test factories worldwide.
Pillai is the recipient of two Intel Achievement Awards. In 2000, he was recognized by the National Academy of Engineering at the Frontiers of Engineering conference. Pillai has written more than 90 peer-reviewed technical papers, authored a section on automation in the McGraw Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology, and co-authored a chapter in the Handbook of Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology.
Breakout session: Building Customer Relationships
Julio Hernandez is a Senior Executive in Accenture's Global Customer Relationship Management Service Line where he is the lead for the firm's Marketing Transformation project in electronics and high tech. During his 12 years at Accenture, he has focused on marketing, sales, and service strategies and tactics to support profitable growth. Hernandez spends much of his time focused on customer centricity and customer experience.
James E. Cates is currently the CIO of Altera Corporation, the world's pioneer of system-on-a-programmable-chip (SOPC) solutions. With annual revenues in CY 2004 of $1.02 billion, Altera combines the reprogrammable logic technology originally
invented in 1983 with software tools, intellectual property (IP), and
design services to provide high-value programmable solutions
to approximately 14,000 customers worldwide. A keen advocate
of converging IT to business goals, Cates draws on more than
30 years of executive leadership in software development, IT
deployment, and corporate management in leading companies
including Brocade, Information Technology Solutions, Synopsys,
Silicon Graphics and IBM. He serves on the Ohio State University
Engineering Advisory Board and holds an MS in Computer and
Information Science from Ohio State University. He is a recipient
of Ohio State's Distinguished Alumnus Award from the college of
Engineering. He also is the co-author of two books: CIO Wisdom
and Climbing the Ladder of Business Intelligence.
Michael Beach has more than 20 years of diverse business management experience, demonstrating a strong ability to lead high-performance teams in large and small business environments and in privately held and publicly traded companies.
Beach is responsible for business operations at Compellent, managing collaboration with Compellent business partners as they go to market. The sales operations team delivers education, systems, tools, and programs that enable channel partner success and builds a platform for Compellent's rapid growth.
Previously, as a Regional Director of Global Services at StorageTek, Beach's Sales and Service teams delivered consistent revenue growth, increased profits, and improved customer satisfaction. And during his tenure as vice president of technology and operations at the Electronic Media Group, Beach rapidly improved business fundamentals through greater operational discipline.
Bob Pearson has more than 20 years of experience in executive corporate communications and public relations. Currently, he is Vice President of Dell's Corporate Group Communications. In this role, he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of corporate media, public affairs, internal communications, and the "Office of the Chairman" communications.
Before joining Dell, Pearson worked for Novartis Pharmaceuticals as Head of Global Corporate Communications and as Head of Global Pharma Communications. Prior to Novartis, Pearson was President of The Americas at GCI and was responsible for creating and building the firm's global healthcare practice.
Breakout session: Driving for Continuous Innovation
Mike Burkett is regarded as the leading expert in product lifecycle management (PLM), having co-authored the first industry publication that defined the market. As the Vice President of AMR Research's Value Chain Strategies team, Burkett draws on more than 15 years of experience introducing and supporting products from concept to end-of-life.
Burkett, a Six Sigma Master Black Belt, has conducted a variety of research on software development and business issues at AMR Research over the past eight years. He currently focuses on product management and innovation, specializing in value chain issues specific to aerospace and defense companies.
Prior to joining AMR Research, Burkett worked as a senior manufacturing engineer at the Foxboro Company, where he conducted training in Six Sigma and lean manufacturing techniques.
General Manager for Microsoft Surface Computing, Pete Thompson is responsible for the group's end-to-end business, including hardware, software, Web-based services development, business development and marketing.
Before joining Microsoft, Thompson was the executive director of marketing and business development for T-Mobile USA Inc., where he helped increase the company's HotSpot network from several hundred locations to more than 10,000 worldwide. Before working at T-Mobile, he held positions at Hewlett-Packard, Motorola Inc., and Publicis USA.
Herman Harwell is a Senior Member in the Global Operations
Manufacturing Engineering Organization and a participant in
the Business Transformation Programs at Applied Materials.
Harwell has been with Applied Materials since 1994. During his
tenure, he has held positions that include membership in the
mechanical design staff for two business groups, has worked on
design for "x" process author, and is now a subject matter expert
(SME). Additionally, Harwell is a member of the PLC architecture
development staff and an applications expert for both VisViewPro/VisMockup and Teamcenter Community.
