Microsoft and Enspiria Solutions partner to create a new business intelligence solution for the utilities industry in North America

Utilities use their IT systems to respond to ever changing market conditions brought on by weather, fuel prices, consumer demand and regulations. They need system frameworks that use the best business intelligence tools to assist the integration of key performance indicators for operations, maintenance, engineering and financials.

Enterprise Oriented Architecture

Microsoft and Enspiria Solutions are addressing this situation by creating Enterprise Oriented Architecture (EOA), a spatially-enabled solution to aid utilities' response to ever-increasing demands for more efficient, accurate, and accessible data and services.

EOA is an integrated set of technologies that supports data management, performance, and decision-making processes of large and small utilities worldwide. The solution allows utilities to extract data from disparate sources and holistically view a range of utility-specific subjects, such as its assets, vegetation and tree management, outages, and maintenance.

In addition to using a company's existing (legacy) IT assets without requiring development of Web services wrappers around existing assets, EOA leverages Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, Microsoft BizTalk Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server, and Microsoft Virtual Earth—all of which are familiar applications in Microsoft Business Intelligence offerings. EOA helps utilities collaborate and gain easier access to better information that can drive pervasive, customizable business performance management.
