Facilitating the global exchange of technology solutions and best practices

Around the world, public sector organizations are developing applications using Microsoft technology, creating solutions to meet their organizations' challenges. Meanwhile, other organizations elsewhere are pursuing the same or similar goals.

The Microsoft Solutions Sharing Network program is a global initiative that seeks to bring these parties together—whether they operate within the same government or in different countries—by helping them build a community for sharing information technology (IT) content. It aims to develop and share effective solutions while promoting better collaboration, to help investments in IT go further and prevent duplication of efforts.

Facilitating collaboration

The Solutions Sharing Network improves the global exchange of technology solutions and best practices in four key ways, by:

  • Identifying and supporting the use of effective, reusable content that can deliver incremental benefits to the public sector, or inspire new thinking and solutions.
  • Supporting a range of worldwide community events, to promote collaboration between people and spark innovation.
  • Providing a custom, Microsoft SharePoint–based Solutions Sharing Network Portal to give people collaborative access to public sector solutions.
  • Engaging with academic researchers to better understand the dynamics of solutions sharing within the public sector.

The Solutions Sharing Network has been successfully used by a wide range of public sector organizations, including:

  • National, regional, and local government agencies
  • Universities
  • Research organizations
