The Interoperability Forum

The promise of interoperability is freedom of choice and ease of integration – the confidence that, regardless of which best-of-breed software is chosen, it just works with existing heterogeneous infrastructures. Customers are demanding it, and vendors are working hard to deliver it.

But there is still work needed to fulfill this promise. To solve the industry’s pressing interoperability problems, businesses must all collaborate to identify key issues and brainstorm solutions. To this end, Microsoft cordially invites you to join the discussion on this Interoperability Forum.

This forum contains three specific topic areas for discussion and collaboration:

Interoperability Conversations
We invite you to visit this forum to raise any general questions, identify issues or propose solutions you have about interoperability in the marketplace. Discussions amongst industry participants on interoperability issues will ultimately help to create solutions that address key issues.

Technical Interoperability Scenarios
This is a forum to discuss technical interoperability issues and how they can be resolved. Some examples of discussion topics include developer tools and runtime; office productivity; systems management; and security and identity management.

Achieving Interoperability through Standards
One way to achieve interoperability is through the implementation of industry standard technologies. While standards are not the only way to enable interoperability, they are an important part of the conversation. We encourage you to use this forum to start conversations related to standardizing technologies and implementing standards in products.

This Forum is intended to enable an open conversation about interoperability among industry participants. Resources related to specific Microsoft news and strategy, as well as links to forums where you can address questions on Microsoft products, protocols and documentation, can be found through exploring the links below.
