Some people have the crazy idea that Microsoft is all about open doors and brainstorming around a whiteboard, or travelling the world and being rewarded for doing training courses you’re asked to do or playing with XBoxes at work. But in reality that’s only half the picture!

In essence, Microsoft is all about a shared passion for technology. Not technology for its own sake but technology that is driven by the aspirations of our customers and that is accessible to absolutely everyone.

Microsoft is about being able to walk into anyone’s office any time. It’s about listening. How else would we know what those customer aspirations are? How else would we know what our own people want from us? They are our other great passion, and we value their opinions even more highly than the indirect feedback they give us when they consistently vote us one of Ireland’s Top 10 Companies to work for. (And believe us that’s something we value pretty highly!)

Microsoft is about much more than being hugely international. It’s about being globally inclusive. About having a genuine respect for equal opportunities and really appreciating the diversity of our people and the people they serve. Microsoft is everybody and proud of it. Microsoft is about continual learning and self-improvement; about how the work that has been done being just as important as what work is done. Microsoft is about big challenges. Like the seemingly impossible one we set ourselves back in 1980 of a PC in every desk and in every home…
