How does Windows look and feel in Bombay, Istanbul and Hanoi? What gives the Irish language version its character?

In enabling users around the world to maximize the benefits of Microsoft technology, localisation means a lot more than just translating languages. It means factoring in a host of cultural and political sensitivities, colours and sounds, date, time and currency formats, social factors and brand new challenges. Interesting stuff. And so are the enormously varied localisation roles that come with it. From Localisation Engineers troubleshooting globalisation issues to Program Managers leading the localisation strategy and driving the schedule to, of course, linguists making sure the world speaks Microsoft.
