Why Volume Licensing?

Microsoft Volume Licensing makes it easier and more affordable to run software on multiple computers within an organization. Purchasing through volume licensing often reduces cost and provides more customized purchasing options and improved software management.

Some Volume Licensing programs offer Software Assurance. This comprehensive maintenance offering can help your customers get the most out of their software investment with new version software rights. Software Assurance also provides additional benefits like the Home Use Program, TechNet subscriptions and access to training vouchers. You can choose Software Assurance at the time of purchase and begin using your benefits immediately for the term of your license agreement.

How Volume Licensing works

Microsoft Office for Mac Standard 2011 is the most complete version of Office for Mac, delivering the tools that your users rely on to manage their lives, connect with others, and collaborate across platforms. Several of the same applications that users are familiar with in Office for Windows are combined with simple licensing options and migration paths to make it easy for Volume Licensing customers to purchase or upgrade to Microsoft Office for Mac Standard 2011.

Platform Independent Licenses

Microsoft Office Standard, Office Professional Plus, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Office for Mac, Word for Mac, Excel for Mac, PowerPoint for Mac, and Outlook for Mac are “platform independent” licenses. A platform independent license allows for a product to be used on any computer platform that the software runs on (e.g., PC, Macintosh), provided that the version used is the same or earlier than the original version that was licensed. For instance, a customer licensed for Office for Mac Standard 2011 may choose to use that license to run Office Standard 2010 for Windows.
