Dear Enda,

You'll be happy to hear the agendas and venues have been finalised for the Microsoft Community Tech Days Tour in March! Tech Days are a collaborative effort between Microsoft and the IT Pro community to re-deliver the highlights of Tech Ed Conference to IT Pros across Ireland. Register now to avoid disappointment! The core content will focus on Infrastructure, BI and Unified Comms & Collaboration Most of the sessions will be delivered by a combination of Microsoft and Community technical presenters and we promise they will involve as much time spent demoing the technology, as possible.

March will see the four-city tour stop for evening events in Galway and Cork, with full day events in Dublin and Belfast. Our special guest speaker in Galway, Dublin and Belfast is Rhonda Layfield, who was voted one of the best technical presenters @ Tech Ed Europe and North America. Don't miss this amazing opportunity to get up-to speed on the latest Microsoft technology (technical level 300) at no cost! We hope to see you there. Learn more and register here.

We are also running 'Microsoft @ Home' sessions in Dublin and Belfast in March, the timing of which line up nicely with the Tech Days. These sessions will look at Home Networking, Windows 7, Securing your Home and Digital Photography. So if you're someone who has even thought about, using your Xbox 360 as a media extender for example, then you'll certainly like this session. Learn more and register here.

I have agreed with my colleagues Dave Northey and Will Craddock (the more technically-abled ones :)) that we all combine our blogging efforts in the one location, rather than blogging in isolation. The guys have made their final post on their own blogs and joined forces on http://blogs.technet.com/ieitpro/default.aspx. Hopefully this will make life easier for you guys when you are looking for content or trying to get in touch with one of us.

We have also managed to give the blog a nice new look and feel - thanks to Rodney Buike of the Canadian TechNet team. Have a look. In the future we also plan to convince other Microsoft Ireland bloggers to post on this blog, as well gathering content from our Microsoft 'Most Valuable Professionals'.

Check out the 'Top Stories' section further down the newsletter for a free 30 Day Unified Comms trial offer from CDSoft, as well as the latest technical training on offer.

Finally, for those of you that have caught the Twitter bug, you can connect with me by simply searching for 'Enda Flynn'. I just got set up on this (yes, I'm slightly slow out the blocks on this one) and I occasionally tweet via TweetDeck, but I am still learning what the possibilities are.

For those of you haven't checked out Twitter yet, I would recommend it - I was initially cynical but must admit I am now finding it to be great. Obviously you may need to set aside time for reading all the various informative/interesting tweets, just like you may do with blogs, as there's so many updates flying around, you can easily get distracted.

Thanks for reading!

Enda Flynn

Find the IT Professional User Groups that interest you here.
A new page has been added to the Irish TechNet website, giving you an overview of the IT Pro User groups in Ireland and a link to their respective websites. The User Groups listed are: Microsoft Technology User Group (MTUG) , Northern Ireland Microsoft Technology User Group (NIMTUG) , SQL Server Ireland User Group , Windows User Group , SBS User Group , SharePoint Ireland User Group. Take a look!

Great news for those of you over in the mid-West of Ireland! On March 3rd, Westpark Business Centre will be the venue for the inaugural Shannon SharePoint User Group Meeting. The breakfast event will run from 8am until 10.30am and has some terrific speakers representing both multinational technology firms and local technology partners.

See the TechNet Blog for the agenda and how you can register. I have every confidence it will be as great a success as the Virtualisation User Group kick-off session in Shannon last month.

The SharePoint User Group will also be resuming in Dublin on the 9th March in a city centre location tbc. The topic for discussion will be 'Business Data Catalogue' and Gold Certified Partner SpanishPoint will present and demo @ the session. See the User Group site for details. We hope to see you there!

Of course, relevant User Groups will also be represented at Microsoft Community Tech Days in Galway, cork, Dublin and Belfast - depending on the topics covered each day. See here for dates and agendas.
