Microsoft SQL Server Data Compression: Experience and Changes
Speaker: Sunil Agarwal | Technology: SQL Server
Data Compression has been one of the most popular features of SQL Server 2008. In
this presentation we look into the common customer questions regarding usage scenarios
and performance. We then examine changes to Data Compression (i.e., Unicode Compression)
available in SQL Server 2008 R2. Attendees should already be familiar with the basics
of ROW and PAGE compression features introduced in SQL Server 2008.

Designing High Performance I/O System with SQL Server
Speaker: Dubi Lebel | Technology: SQL Server
In this session we will try to provide the “full story” about I/O. We will start
at the hardware level working our way up the stack through Windows and into the
SQL Server storage engine (including Analysis Services). We aim to provide in depth
information about all aspects related to high performance storage design for SQL
Server and best practices on this naturally complex subject. We will also present
real-life feedback on a very challenging workload.

Strategies to get maximum concurrency for your workload in SQL Server
Speaker: Meir Dudai | Technology: SQL Server
Concurrency.
בין היכולות שנסקור:
- RCSI & Bulk Loading
- שיפורים ב-Lock Escalation
Senior Program
Manager בקבוצת המוצר, והוא ידבר על אחד הנושאים הפנימיים והפחות מוכרים בעולם הנעילות:
האויב השקט אך המסוכן של ה-Concurrency.

Migrating to SQL Server from Other Databases: Lessons Learned and Best Practices
Speaker: Dmitry Balin & Lior Ribalov | Technology: SQL Server
Migrating a solution from a specific RDBMS to another (from Oracle or DB2 to SQL
Server in this case) can be a very complex task. You’ll be successful only using
a combined approach of supporting tools (like SQL Server Migration Assistant for
Oracle), best practices and proven conversion patterns. Oracle PL/SQL feature set
is powerful and, historically speaking, Java, C++ and also .NET developers used
it extensively in enterprise-class applications, together with several data access
techniques (JDBC, OLE DB, ADO.NET and other libraries). In this session DBBest Team
will share their experience working on several big and critical migration projects
with a particular focus on performance issues and successful approaches. We will
also present the successful Case Study from an Israeli customer who did migrate
from DB2 to SQL Server.

Microsoft SQL Server Execution Plans: From Compilation, to Caching, to Reuse
Speaker: Ami Levin | Technology: SQL Server
Execution plan reuse is one of the most important aspects of building well-performing
and scalable SQL Server solutions. But it's also the one that is often overlooked
during the design phase and becomes very difficult to troubleshoot later. In this
session we discuss in detail the following aspects of SQL Server execution plans:
compilation, re-compilation, parameterization, caching, reuse, and aging. You will
leave this session with full understanding of how to improve your server's performance
by increasing execution plan reuse (and how to avoid reuse in case this is necessary)

Troubleshoot Like a Pro with the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Tools
Speaker: Guy Glantser | Technology: SQL Server
In this session, learn how to use tools like Performance Monitor, DMVs, Resource
Governor, Performance Data Collector and Extended Events to detect and troubleshooting
performance problems with SQL Server 2008/2008R2. This session will be demo-intensive.
