With the stimulus bill signed last week, Congress and the administration have taken important steps to bolster the economy and put millions of people back to work. We at Microsoft are committed to help.
For years, we’ve worked to broaden access to job opportunities through information technology education and training initiatives. Now, we’re expanding our efforts.
Microsoft is working with federal, state and local governments to launch Elevate America: a new offering of no-cost and low-cost resources that will help more workers acquire technology skills and certifications needed in today’s changing economy. Our goal is to help train two million people.
To meet specific community needs, governments can choose from a range of Elevate America resources:
| • | Expanded access to basic technological literacy and skills training. |
| • | Intermediate technology skills training courses, instructor-led and online, plus selected certification exams. |
| • | Access to a new Web portal that will help guide individuals to training that positions them for success in the economy today, and tomorrow. |
Microsoft believes America can and will return to prosperity and unmatched global competitiveness, if we all work together.
