Welcome to the Microsoft Partner Solutions for Oracle ISV
Alert
By
Dewey Forrester, Director Oracle Alliance and Strategy Team
Welcome to
the new ISV Alert for Microsoft Partner Solutions for Oracle. This
alert was created to help our partners be the first to know about news
regarding Microsoft’s partnership and strategy with Oracle.
Congratulations on being one of our founding subscribers. The primary
goal of the Microsoft Partner Solutions for Oracle Program is to
increase awareness of the potential opportunities and better enable our
partners so they can address these opportunities. We believe that these
Alerts will be a great communication tool for that goal.
For almost two decades, Oracle and Microsoft have teamed up to deliver
better interoperability between our products and this has delivered
some key benefits for the customers: Microsoft Windows customers can
utilized Microsoft.NET on to rapidly deliver unique and creative
solutions that interoperate with the Oracle database and middleware
products. For years, the two companies have invested in Oracle Database
and Oracle RAC performance tuning and field enablement for our Windows
Server customers.
Today, the two companies are deepening their commitment to customers
running both Oracle and Microsoft software. We are working together to
ensure that our mutual customers realize the highest levels of
performance, compatibility, extensibility and interoperability. This
includes optimizing for Windows Server, supporting SQL Server 2005 for
major line of business applications, and connecting Oracle applications
with Microsoft Office to improve information worker productivity.
We value the relationship with our ISV Partners for Oracle and look
forward to enhancing our communication process with the new ISV Alerts.
Best regards,
Dewey Forrester

Microsoft
Partners Make More Money
Great news for Microsoft Partners! A recent study by IDC proves the power
of partnering with Microsoft. The report links Partner success to
Microsoft's commitment to profitability through resources. Partner tools
mentioned in the article include technical, sales, and marketing like the
ISV Telesales and International ISV Assistance.
The good news was spread by Channel Insider, who published an article on the study highlighting, among other
things:
ISVs participating in Microsoft's competency program are more successful
than their peers, even those building on Microsoft but outside the
program, according to an IDC report released in October. IDC researchers
chalked up most of the gap to efficiencies gained from the Microsoft
partner program, such as research and development benefits, sales and
marketing support and the difference in go-to-market strategies between
the different channels.
Microsoft partners spent less on research and development than
non-Microsoft ISVs--an average 33 percent and 50 percent of revenue,
respectively--and invested the bulk of the savings on sales and marketing
efforts, granting them a leg up in market share, researchers said.
The study underscores the need for vendors to make their channels
profitable.
Microsoft is launching five new programs this year, including
International ISV Assistance and ISV Telesales, to help get partner
applications built to run on, and take advantage of, the three coming
products.

Telesales
Program brings ISVs in the Microsoft Partner Solutions for Oracle Program
Qualified Leads
Microsoft has created a powerful new offering that gets partners to the
qualified leads they need to drive business forward--the ISV Telesales Service. It’s a Microsoft developed,
partner-led telesales engine that matches partners with the key decision
makers who see partner solutions as a fit for their businesses.
The ISV Telesales Service is a sales engine driven by partners, which
means that partners create a marketing campaign that is completely
customized to their business and their products. The ISV Telesales
Service professionals are trained to promote the unique benefits of your
solution. Here’s how it works:
- Partners work directly with a telesales service campaign manager on a
lead generation program. Partners can use their own list of prospects, or
let the campaign manager generate one for them.
- A highly qualified group of telesales professionals--who have been
tested and trained on the Microsoft Solution Selling Program (MSSP) and business
decision-maker (BDM) selling--use this list of leads to deliver
interested, qualified business opportunities.
- The Partner’s sales force can then focus on selling their solution to
qualified leads rather than spending valuable time qualifying them.
Partners also receive a final, completely updated list of prospects and
contact information.
Microsoft is funding a limited number of campaigns to add even MORE value
for our partners. Act now to take advantage of this offer! For more
