Microsoft Enterprise ISV News Update

The Microsoft Enterprise ISV News Update brings our Partners the latest news about Microsoft technology and marketing offerings surrounding SAP and Oracle.

Microsoft Enterprise ISV News Update

Dear Partners,

Welcome to Microsoft FY08! This year holds a lot of promise for our community of Microsoft Partners active in the SAP and Oracle space. As the year unfolds, you will enjoy an increased focus on your business, because the SAP and Oracle space will have a higher profile in Microsoft than ever before. The main theme of the year will be Office Business Applications (OBA). Expect to see a number of initiatives around OBA enablement, lead generation, deal support, and customer/partner evidence. OBA is all about extending line of business applications such as Oracle and SAP through Microsoft Office and thus making data and business processes available to users through a familiar and productive graphical user interface. For additional information on OBA, please visit www.obacentral.com.

The first change you will notice this year is that this news update now addresses both SAP and Oracle Partners under the banner "Microsoft Enterprise ISV New Update." Until now, we have had two separate News Updates, but we have found that there are significant synergies in combining the two. Hopefully you will enjoy the new format.

Also, I want to spotlight three significant initiatives coming up in the first half of FY08:

OBA events at SAP TechEd and Oracle Open World. We are planning partner events that highlight the OBA opportunity at SAP TechEd in Las Vegas and Munich as well as Oracle Open World this fall. Please see below for specific dates. We will provide you with details in coming issues of this alert.

OBA workshop in Redmond. On November 28th, we will host a one-day OBA hands-on workshop in Redmond specifically for Partners who extend SAP and/or Oracle. More details to come shortly.

Lead generation through SAPInsider. Last year we piloted a lead-generation initiative with SAPInsider that resulted in generating an amazing number of leads. This year we are mainstreaming the program, and I am happy to announce that we are now "taking orders for a new initiative." Please visit our site for more information on how to take advantage of this great offer. I will share a quote with you from one of our pilot partners:

"As a new solution provider in the SAP market, SAP Insider's Webinar Program surpassed our expectations. SAP Insider's web concierge and moderator services ensured a high level of comfort for our presenters and we were able to exceed both the quantity and quality of leads we were expecting. Because of the reduced rate for the webinar offered through the Microsoft ISV partnership with SAP Insider, we will achieve a tremendous ROI for this campaign."

Thanks for all of your support in FY07 and here's to a prosperous FY08!

Best regards,

Stig Panduro
Senior Marketing Manager, Microsoft Corporation

New Forrester Research: Microsoft a Leader in Application Server Platforms
Two reports, released July 2007, from Forrester Research deliver valuable information about the Application Server Platform and service-oriented architecture markets. To read these reports and learn more about the Microsoft role as a leader in application server platforms, please visit:

Microsoft recently released Office Business Application (OBA) Reference Architecture Pack (RAP) for Price Management. Price Management is a crucial aspect of any company's product sales strategy. The Price Management RAP shows how to build architectures that unify people, processes, and technology through familiar Microsoft Office system user interfaces. It includes an architecture framework for Price Management with an OBA-based scenario and BizTalk for the quote-creation process. This class of applications is emerging as new business applications that connect existing line-of-business (LOB) systems with the people that use them every day through the familiar user interface of Microsoft Office. These OBAs bridge the gap between how business process systems work and how people work. Visit MSDN to read white papers and view videos and presentations on this new offering.

Partner EDGE (Enterprise Demand Generation Engine) is a turnkey telesales-based program that is designed to deliver qualified sales opportunities for Microsoft managed enterprise partner solutions. MCI, one of the world's largest global communications firms, provides voice, data, networking, and other services. The company had more than two-dozen systems supporting 8,000 sales and support personnel. MCI saw an opportunity to integrate and increase the efficiency of its systems with newer technology, thereby reducing the costs to maintain them and improving the firm's financial and business management. To achieve these goals, MCI teamed with Siebel, Microsoft, HP, and Accenture to test and deploy Siebel 7.5.3, running on Microsoft software and HP servers. The new, simplified system reduced costs and improved productivity in sales and related areas, such as legal and business development, by up to 25 percent.
