Today Microsoft Corp. highlighted the benefits customers have realized by migrating their data platform to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 to run their SAP® applications: enterprise-caliber reliability coupled with significant cost savings. Customers have experienced over 35 percent cost-efficiencies by selecting SQL Server 2005 to run their SAP solutions. These customers represent a growing number of organizations that have committed to SQL Server to support their most essential systems at a low total cost of ownership.

Microsoft and SAP have announced a new joint offering that will simplify and accelerate customer adoption of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and optimize it for the SAP Business Suite. The new offering will enable customers to easily transition to SQL Server 2005 and leverage the benefits of a flexible, enterprise service-oriented architecture (enterprise SOA) to transform their businesses. SAP and Microsoft have also agreed to set up a joint lab in Walldorf, Germany to further optimize SAP Business Suite on SQL Server 2005. This announcement from SAP and Microsoft, in addition to the Duet software announcements made at SAPPHIRE ’07 Atlanta, highlights the companies’ continued commitment to deliver innovative solutions that benefit mutual customers.

Twelve months after first unveiling plans to create "Project Mendocino" a joint product that enables people to interact quickly and easily with SAP business processes and data through Microsoft Office applications SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) and Microsoft Corp. today announced that the two companies are scheduled to ship the product on time in June, 2006. The product is officially named Duet software for Microsoft Office and SAP.
