Integration of SAP Central User Administration with Microsoft Active Directory

As system landscapes become more and more complex efficient identity management becomes a key success factor in IT organizations. Often the same identity information has to be maintained in lots of different IT systems. This leads to a great administrative overhead for creating, updating and deleting user data in all involved systems. Focusing on an entire SAP system landscape the integration of SAP CUA (central user administration) with Microsoft Active Directory Services can be the first step in implementing identity management in your IT infrastructure. The benefit is a huge reduction of administrative efforts and more consistent data across the different participating systems.

Creating Users in Active Directory from Employee Data Stored in SAP HR

SAP provides an interface that allows creating and modifying users in a LDAP directory server such as Microsoft Active Directory from employee data stored in SAP HR as part of the SAP standard. The interface called HR Data Retrieval in a LDAP Enabled Directory Service extracts data using a query or an ABAP report and performs the export into a LDAP directory server using the LDAP Connector. The usage of this interface allows for an optimized administration of users and thus can reduce the operational costs of an IT landscape. This collaboration brief describes how the LDAP interface has to be configured for Microsoft Active Directory and provides a sample report that can be used for testing purposes.

Using SAP Logon Tickets for Single Sign-on to Microsoft-based Web Applications

Single Sign-On (SSO) is a key feature of the SAP Enterprise Portal (EP) that eases user interaction with the many component systems available to the user in a portal environment. To avoid the administrative overhead that is caused by the need to maintain the user credentials a seamless SSO technique is needed such as SAP Logon Tickets.

Create a SAP Password Reset Tool

Resetting users passwords typically consumes a significant amount of support resources. In addition, other than verifying the authenticity of these requests, support personnel spend time manually performing password resets, without adding value to the process. A solution was developed to verify the users credentials against the network and to immediately perform an RFC call into the appropriate SAP system to reset the password. Four custom RFCs were created in SAP to accomplish this solution.
