Microsoft Skills Assessment per Visual Studio 2005 e Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 è un valido strumento che consente agli sviluppatori di individuare percorsi di formazione per la preparazione all'esame e risorse didattiche per l'aggiornamento da Visual Studio .NET e ASP.NET 1.0/1.1.

Conseguimento della certificazione MCPD: Web Developer
I candidati alla certificazione MCPD: Web Developer devono innanzitutto soddisfare i requisiti previsti per le credenziali MCTS: .NET Framework 2.0 Web Applications (2 esami) Dopo aver conseguito questa certificazione, i candidati possono ottenere la certificazione MCPD: Web Developer superando l'esame aggiuntivo richiesto.
I Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD) possono effettuare l'aggiornamento alla certificazione MCPD: Web Developer sostenendo un esame di aggiornamento anziché quello richiesto e senza dover soddisfare il prerequisito costituito dalle credenziali MCTS: .NET Framework 2.0 Web Applications.
