Visual Studio 2005 のリリースに伴い、Visual Studio 2005 では、Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite、Team Editions for Software Developers、Team Edition for Software Architects、Team Edition for Software Testers、そして Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition 用の新しい 5 つの MSDN Premium Subscription が導入されます。これら Visual Studio 2005 用の新しい MSDN Premium Subscription には MSDN Universal の重要な利点が含まれており、最新の開発ツールや技術が提供されるとともに、製品の更新版や最新版を継続的かつ優先的に利用できます。

これらの新たなサブスクリプションのリリースによって、MSDN Universal および MSDN Enterprise の販売は終了し、リリース時点で有効な MSDN Universal および MSDN Enterprise 会員は、より価値の高い Visual Studio 2005 Team Editions for Software Architects with MSDN Premium Subscription、Team Edition for Software Developers with MSDN Premium Subscription、Team Edition for Software Testers with MSDN Premium Subscription のいずれかに追加費用なしでアップグレードできます。

MSDN Professional は引き続き販売されますが、名称は Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition with MSDN Professional Subscription に変更となります。また、Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition with MSDN Premium Subscription も提供されます。これまで MSDN Universal でのみ提供されていたオペレーティング システム、サーバー、およびプロダクティビティ アプリケーションのすべてが提供されます。

MSDN Operating System Subscription および MSDN Library Subscription に変更はありません。
