Microsoft Research Faculty Summit 2009 in Argentina 

Below, you will find general information about the event, which will enable you to better organize your stay in Buenos Aires.

Diary Transfers from Microsoft Company (Bouchard 710) to Sofitel Cardales Luxury Resort Hotel: will be done by a van for 24 people and there will be signs with the name of the event. The estimated travel time is 1 hour and 30 minutes. One of our staff members will be present to coordinate and help the arriving group. Departure and arrival time will be confirmed 15 days before the date of the event.

  • May 13th – To Sofitel Cardales: 8.45am / Return: 11.00pm
  • May 14th – To Sofitel Cardales: 7.15am / Return: 6.30pm to La Rural (Buenos Aires City)
  • May 15th – To Sofitel Cardales: 7.00am / Return: 3.30pm

Diary Transfers from  Sheraton Pilar to Sofitel Cardales Luxury Resort Hotel: will be done by a van for 19/24 people and there will be signs with the name of the event. The estimated travel time is 45 minutes. One of our staff members will be present to coordinate and help the arriving group.

  • May 13th – To Sofitel Cardales: 9.30am (Meeting Point Hotel lobby) / Return to Sheraton: 11.00pm
  • May 14th – To Sofitel Cardales: 8.15am (Meeting Point Hotel lobby) / Return to Sheraton: 5.00pm / To La Rural (Buenos Aires City) “Social Event & Diner Show”: 6.30pm / Return to Sheraton: 11.00pm.
  • May 15th – To Sofitel Cardales: 7.45am (Meeting Point Hotel lobby) / To Ezeiza International Airport/Buquebus/Local Airport/Microsoft Company (check details of your departure time at the Registration desk (Hotel Lobby).
Transfers from Ezeiza International Airport to Sofitel Cardales Luxury Resort Hotel will be done by vans for 15 people, plus luggage, and there will be signs with the name of the event. The estimated travel time is 1 hour and 30 minutes. One of our staff members will be present to coordinate and help the arriving group. Please send as soon as posible your E – ticket, in order to organize the Schedule transfers.

Transfers from the Sofitel Cardales Hotel to the Ezeiza International Airport will be done at different times, using vans for 15 people each. Please send as soon as posible your E – ticket, in order to organize the Schedule transfers.

Requirements for entering the country.
Passport.

Exchange rate.
The currency is Argentinian Peso, the price varies but it is approximately $3.50 /$3.65 Argentinian pesos per 1 US dollar. 
Money may be easily changed in banks, bureau de change with passaport. The opening hours for banks are from Monday to Friday from 10:00 until 15:00.  
Products on national territory include a value added tax (VAT 21%).

Local and international calls may be made from almost all public phones and from call centers.

Weather. 
In May we are in autumn. Mornings and evenings are colder, and it is windy. It will probably rain.

Security.
It is recommended to leave your valuables at the hotel. You should leave your valuables in your room safe. 

In the cities:
It is not recommendable to let strangers approach you or have jewelery or objects of great value on show. Take special care with pickpockets on the underground and city buses. When you go to a restaurant for lunch or dinner, do not leave your belongings behind the seat or unattended.  

In the hotels:
Your valuable objects and travel documents should be left in safety deposit boxes, which the hotels offer for this purpose. To identify yourself to the local authorities, have your migration entry document to hand and a photo ID, for example, a driver’s license.
In the event of theft, it must be immediately reported to the argentinean police and if foreign documents are involved, notify your nearest consulate.
