    System Requirements
    You'll need the following hardware and software to build and run the code samples for this book:
    • Microsoft Office Word 2008 for Mac
    • Microsoft Office Excel 2008 for Mac
    • Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2008 for Mac
    • Microsoft Office Entourage 2008 for Mac
    • To install and run these programs, your computer needs to meet the following minimum requirements:
      • Processor: Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (500 MHz or faster) processor
      • Operating System: Mac OS X version 10.4.9 or later
      • Memory: 512 megabytes (MB) of RAM
      • Hard Disk: 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available disk space
        Tip Hard disk requirements will vary depending on configuration; custom installation choices might require more or less hard disk space.
      • Display: 1024 x 768 or higher resolution monitor
      • Drive: DVD-ROM
      • Peripherals: Keyboard and mouse or compatible pointing device
      • Miscellaneous: HFS+ hard disk format file format (also known as Mac OS Extended or HFS Plus); Microsoft Entourage and certain features require Internet access
    • In addition to the hardware, software, and connections required to run Office 2008, you will need the following to successfully complete the exercises in this book:
      • Word 2008, Excel 2008, PowerPoint 2008, and Entourage 2008
    • 25 MB of available hard disk space for the practice files
    Installing The Code Samples
    After you download the code samples file to your computer, run the installer and follow the instructions that appear.
    To find the practice files after they are installed:
    1. Select Find from the File menu
    2. Select Computer for the location
    3. Type “2008OfficeMacSBS” in the Find box
    4. Click the Search button (located in lower right corner)
    Uninstalling The Code SamplesTo remove the practice files from your computer, drag the 2008OfficeMacSBS folder to the trash can.
