This one and one-half–hour clinic provides in-depth knowledge on the following Windows Server 2008 Branch Office functionality: Branch Office Server Deployment and Administration, Branch Office Security
Audience Profile
IT professionals currently experienced on the technologies included in Windows Server 2000 and/or Windows Server 2003, and who hold an MCSE or MCSA certification and/or equivalent knowledge.

Module 1: Branch Server Deployment and Administration
After completing this module, students will be able to:
List the improvements that have been made to Active Directory in Windows Server 2008 and identify the benefits.
Describe Restartable AD and understand why to use it.
Describe a Read-Only Domain Controller and determine when to use one.
List the new server roles that exist in Windows Server 2008 that will benefit a branch office environment and understand how are they implemented.
List the changes that have been made to DNS that support the new AD capabilities of Windows Server 2008.
Understand how to improve file system management in branch office environments.
Describe print service improvements that exist in Windows Server 2008 that benefit a branch office environment.
Understand how the enhancements to Terminal Services in Windows Server 2008 assist administrators in better managing their server and network environments.
Describe the Next Generation TCP/IP Stack. Understand how it benefits the branch office environment.
Describe Server Virtualization in Windows Server 2008 and list the benefits it brings to the branch office environment.
Module 2: Branch Office Security
After completing this module, students will be able to:
Describe the special challenges branch office environments face with regard to physically securing servers and data.
Understand the challenges that exist in protecting network communications with the branch.
Understand how Windows Server 2008 mitigates these challenges.
Understand how an RODC benefits a branch office environment.
Describe BitLocker. Understand how it benefits a branch office environment.
Describe Network Access Protection and understand how it benefits a branch office environment.
List the improvements that have been made to Windows Firewall and describe how this simplifies the configuration of IPSec for the branch.
Understand the benefits of using IPSec.
