Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)
These certifications prove you have the comprehensive set of skills to perform a particular IT job role, such as database administrator or enterprise messaging administrator. They are based on older versions of Microsoft technologies, and your MCITP certification will decline in value as companies move to newer versions of our products. Take advantage of special upgrades to earn a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) and protect your investment in your certifications.
Most MCITP certifications will be retired by July 31, 2014. Your retired certification will remain on your transcript with a Legacy designation. Once certifications and their relevant exams are retired, they're added to the lists of retired exams and retired certifications.

The following tables list the MCITP certifications available, by technology. Where multiple exams are required for a certification, they may be taken in any order.
- Windows Client
MCITP certifications on Windows 7
These certifications will be retired on January 31, 2014.

* When you earn this certification, you will also earn the MCSA: Windows 7 certification. After the MCITP certifications are retired, you’ll still be able to earn the MCSA: Windows 7 certification.
After January 31, 2014, you can no longer earn the MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Administrator on Windows 7 or the MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician on Windows 7 certifications, but you can still take Exams 680, 685, and 686 to earn the MCSA: Windows 7 certification.

These certifications will be retired on July 31, 2013.

- Q.Is there a recertification policy for the MCITP certification?

Recertification is not required for MCITP certifications. When a certification is deemed no longer relevant for current technologies/solutions, it will be designated as "legacy" on your transcript.
- Q.How long will my certification be valid?
- A.
The existing MCITP certifications are currently valuable in the market and will remain valuable as long as companies are using the technology covered in your certification. As new technologies are released, they will align with the new solutions structure. Over time, MCITP certifications will retire and will transition to a legacy status. Legacy Microsoft Certifications will still appear on your transcript and will be designated as such.
- Q.Will there be an upgrade path from my current MCITP certification?
- A.
If you achieved an MCITP certification that corresponds to a new expert-level certification, there will be a shorter upgrade path available to you for a limited time.
