Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) is a collection of best practices, principles, and models. It provides comprehensive technical guidance for achieving mission-critical production system reliability, availability, supportability, and manageability for solutions and services built on Microsoft's products and technologies.
This course, Microsoft Operations Framework Essentials, is an introductory two-day course designed to expose students to the three key elements of the Microsoft Operations Framework—the MOF process, team models, and risk models. This course also helps students to understand the purpose of MOF by giving the context of its development and describing how MOF builds upon the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) to achieve its goals.
This course is intended for IT operations professionals responsible for the planning and implementation of operations processes being applied to Microsoft technology.
After completing this course, students will be able to:
| • | Describe the major challenges now facing IT operations, and the MOF approach to service management. |
| • | Describe ITIL and how MOF builds on it. |
| • | Describe the MOF Process Model, its four quadrants, and the mission of service for each quadrant. |
| • | Describe the MOF Team Model and the mission, key responsibilities, and needed staff competencies for each role cluster. |
| • | Describe the MOF Risk Management Discipline and how it is applied to operations. |
The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations course is highly recommended.
No Microsoft Certification exams are associated with this course currently.
The student kit includes a comprehensive workbook and other necessary materials for this class.
