What is Learning Manager?

Microsoft Learning Manager is your personal space that you can access through the Microsoft Learning Web site, MSDN, and TechNet. With Learning Manager, you can browse for products in the Learning Catalog, add learning resources to your My Learning area, and track your progress and achievements over time. By using Learning Manager, you can plan and manage your learning so that you can build new skills for a specific project or advance your career.

Why should I use it?

Learning Manager gives you one place to plan and manage your learning over time. It consists of two main areas: Learning Catalog and My Learning.

Learning Catalog—An area within Learning Manager where you can browse a full listing of learning options by Learning Plans, Microsoft product, or learning resource.

My Learning—A personal space in Learning Manager that allows you to save learning resources, activate and open learning resources, and track your progress toward completion. You can add learning options, such as classroom training, e-learning, Microsoft Press books, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) exams, and learning plans to My Learning directly from the Learning Catalog, the Microsoft Learning Web site, or the Microsoft E-Learning Web site by using the Add to My Learning button (Figure 1).

How can I access Learning Manager?

Links to Learning Manager are provided in the left navigation pane of the Microsoft Learning Web site, the Microsoft Certification member Web site, and the Microsoft E-Learning Web site. You can also find links to Learning Manager in the MSDN Developer Centers and the TechNet Tech Centers.

You can use Learning Manager without signing in. However, to activate or purchase Microsoft Official E-Learning resources from Microsoft, you must sign in with your Windows Live ID. As soon as you activate or purchase one or more learning products, you must sign in to access your My Learning space during future visits to the Microsoft Learning Web site.

Note If you have a Hotmail account, MSN e-mail account, or Microsoft Passport, you have a Windows Live ID; you can use your existing e-mail address and password to sign in to Windows Live sites and services. If you do not have Hotmail account, MSN e-mail account, or Microsoft Passport, it is easy to sign up for a Windows Live ID.

If you have signed in with your Windows Live ID and you use Learning Manager, items that are stored in your My Learning space are always saved as part your Web site profile. This makes it easy for you to access these items from any computer the next time that you need to.

If you are not signed in with your Windows Live ID, items that you previously added to your My Learning space continue to be stored on your computer, as long as you have not prevented acceptance or blocked cookies in your browser. Simply use the same computer and return to Learning Manager to access the products the next time that you need them. Note that you must sign in with your Windows Live ID e-mail address and password to obtain access to the e-learning products that you have purchased or activated.

For help signing in on the Microsoft E-Learning Web site, contact the Microsoft E-Learning customer service and support center through the following link.
