Note: This page
describes a feature that will be supported with a different technical solution
in future versions of Microsoft Windows.
In connection with the Final Judgment, Microsoft is documenting the interfaces used by "Microsoft Middleware" (as defined in the proposed Consent Decree) to obtain services from the Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP desktop client operating systems. One of these interfaces is the Secure Audio Path (SAP) interface. For an application to use the SAP interface, it must have a unique static library that is available from Microsoft under the SAP Library License Program. This library is subject to section III.J.2 of the Final Judgment, which is related to maintaining the security and integrity of Windows systems.
To obtain a license for the SAP static library under the SAP Library License Program, or for more information about the program, visit the Secure Audio Path Library Licensing Program Web site.
