Are Microsoft LicenseWise and Microsoft License Advisor integrated?

Yes, customers who are using License Advisor can provide you with access to their report by sharing their unique report or quote ID, which is generated when they choose to save the report. When you access Microsoft LicenseWise and enter the unique customer report or quote ID, the report that your customer generated will be displayed, so you can view your customers’ requirements, recommend additional products or make other customizations as needed, and complete the quote.

In what countries and in which languages is LicenseWise available?

Microsoft LicenseWise is currently available in more than 95 regions and is localized in 22 languages: Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Japanese, Italian, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Portuguese (Brazil), Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

Who can use Microsoft LicenseWise?

What is new in the latest release of Microsoft LicenseWise?

The latest release of Microsoft LicenseWise supports Open License, Open Value, Open Value Subscription, Select License Agreement, Select Plus, Enterprise Agreement, and Campus and School Agreement, including academic, charity, and government programs where available. New features also include:

Quote to Promotions: LicenseWise includes current Microsoft On-Price List product promotion information, allowing you to present a pricing comparison in your quote.
Server modeling and recommendation Tool: LicenseWise presents a recommended list of Server products, including a breakdown of SKUs and quantities, to include in a quote, based on the number of desktops you enter into the tool. This feature will save you time by pre-populating data and help you navigate the Server selection process. Note that the list generated by LicenseWise is completely editable by the user of the tool.
Enterprise Agreement renewals: LicenseWise provides the user with the ability to renew an expiring agreement.

Access and Privacy

Does Microsoft LicenseWise require a password?

Yes. You need a username and password to be able to access LicenseWise, but this should be the same Windows Live ID used to currently access Explore.ms or the Microsoft Partner Network.

Do I need to register to use Microsoft LicenseWise?

In order to take full advantage of the LicenseWise functionality you are required to sign in using the same Windows Live ID used to currently access Explore.ms or the Microsoft Partner Network.

Does Microsoft charge a fee to use Microsoft LicenseWise?

No. Microsoft LicenseWise is free to use.

Does Microsoft charge a fee for a secure version of Microsoft LicenseWise?

Microsoft does not provide a security locked version of LicenseWise.

Microsoft LicenseWise quotes estimated retail price (ERP), recommended retail price (RRP), or suggested retail price (SRP) for Microsoft Volume Licensing programs, excluding any taxes that may apply. LicenseWise provides NET pricing functionality for authorized users.

Does Microsoft LicenseWise quote pricing for Microsoft Software Assurance?

Yes, Microsoft LicenseWise quotes NET, ERP, RRP, or SRP for Software Assurance when the recommended configuration includes that option.

Can I purchase Microsoft licenses using Microsoft LicenseWise?

No. Microsoft LicenseWise provides Volume Licensing program comparisons and NET, ERP, RRP, or SRP pricing quotes (where available). Your next step would then be to download the quote to Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel, compare it to other Microsoft Volume Licensing programs, and review financing options with your customer.

Can I select fewer than five licenses or desktop PCs in Microsoft LicenseWise?

No. Microsoft LicenseWise interprets five licenses and five desktop PCs as the same value and has a minimum requirement of five desktop PCs

Why are some products recommended as prerequisites when they are not required for basic installation of the software product?

Some products are recommended as a prerequisite to extend certain functionality for a selected product. You do not always need these products to install the software. If you have questions about why a product has been recommended, rest your pointer on the name of the recommended product. The Additional Information pane on the right side of your screen displays details about why the product is recommended.

Why do some products not have a prerequisite product?

If a prerequisite product is not listed, either the product you selected does not require another product to be run or the selected prerequisite product is already included in the initial configuration.
