To simplify licensing terminology, on October 1, 2007, Microsoft is introducing Single Language price points for numerous Volume Licensing programs. The term Single Language refers to the license rights you will gain when you enter into a license agreement with Microsoft: You will have the right to use a product in one language instead of in multiple languages. The updated price points will help clarify the names of different language versions of products and will make it easier to find the right price point on a price list.
Price lists will be amended as of October 1 to include the new Single Language price points, and price points with individual language descriptions, such as the language itself (French, Japanese, English) and language groupings (Unlisted), will be removed. For example, in the Select program, Office Professional Plus Single will replace Office Professional Plus English, Office Professional Plus Spanish, and Office Professional Plus Unlisted. In the Open License program, Office Standard Single will replace Office Standard English and Office Standard Korean. The media fulfillment process and the process of working with Channel Partners to obtain media will not change.
The following programs are affected:
| • | Open License (Commercial, Academic, and Charity) |
| • | Open Value |
| • | Open License Value |
| • | Select (Commercial, EMEA Academic, and Government) |
| • | Volume Licensing for Government Organizations |
