Volume License Keys: Independent Software Vendors

Published: April 10, 2001 | Updated: October 30, 2006

You can acquire a master copy of Microsoft software that is available to Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) from Microsoft Worldwide Fulfillment (WWF). Volume Licensing media is the only media that will allow multiple installations of this software.

To use Volume Licensing CDs, your company will need to acquire a Volume License Key. These Volume License Keys cannot be used with retail media. When you install a product by using Volume Licensing CDs, you will be prompted for a 25-character product key. Use the appropriate Volume License Key instead of the product key that was previously located on the Volume Licensing CD packaging. These special Volume License Keys facilitate multiple installations from a single Volume Licensing CD. You will not be able to install a product from a Volume Licensing CD without the Volume License Key.

You can obtain your Volume License Key by contacting the Microsoft Activation Center for your region. You will need to do the following:

1.

Obtain the following information before you call the Microsoft Activation Center, and be prepared to provide it to the customer service representative:

Your ISV Royalty Licensing agreement number

The name of your company

The product you will be using

The quantity of licenses (estimate quarterly redistribution requirements)

2.

Call the Microsoft Activation Center.

In the United States, call (888) 352-7140. (Note: This telephone number is for Volume License Keys only.)

If you are outside the United States, call one of the Microsoft Activation Center worldwide telephone numbers.
