New Version Rights

Published: June 23, 2003 | Updated: April 4, 2008

As a Microsoft Software Assurance customer, you are eligible to upgrade to new versions of licensed software that are made available during your term of Software Assurance coverage. With New Version Rights, you can upgrade to the latest version of a product for which you have ordered Software Assurance coverage if a new version is made available during the covered period. You can run the latest version in place of the underlying licensed product. For example, if a new version of the Microsoft Office system is released during the term of your coverage, your covered licenses will automatically be upgraded to the new version. If you acquire perpetual licenses through Software Assurance, you can deploy the upgrades after your coverage has expired.

Microsoft is continually delivering new versions of its software. Some exciting new releases are available now, and more are planned for the coming months. The New Version Rights benefit makes it easier for you to acquire and deploy these and other new software releases.

Available now:

Windows Vista

The 2007 Microsoft Office system

Microsoft SQL Server 2005
