* In the past few years, companies like yours employing fewer than 500 employees have shown strong interest in capturing data security, flexibility of access and management benefits associated with a virtual desktop infrastructure. Software Assurance supports this interest with Windows Virtual Desktop Access (Windows VDA) and new Office Roaming Rights. Starting July 1, 2010, the ability to access virtual desktops is integrated into Software Assurance for Windows Client, eliminating the need for additional licensing for Software Assurance covered PCs that are used to access virtual desktops. Additionally, the single, primary users of a Software Assurance covered devices have extended roaming rights, allowing them to access their VDI desktops from any non-corporate machine outside the corporate domain, such as a home PC or internet kiosk. On that same date, customers with active Software Assurance on Office 2010, Project 2010 or Visio 2010 will also be able to utilize expanded roaming rights. This means that the single, primary users of licensed Office devices can access their virtual images of Office from any non-corporate device outside the corporate domain.
