Available exclusively to Software Assurance customers, System Center Advisor is a Microsoft cloud service that proactively scans your server environment to help you gain insight into server configuration problems, resolve issues faster, and reduce server downtime—while providing security features to meet your needs.
Before you use:
Valuable support for Microsoft server products
System Center Advisor helps IT pros manage the configuration of Microsoft SQL Server–based servers, Windows Server Active Directory and Hyper-V. This service brings a new level of support and maintenance value to Software Assurance customers at no additional cost.
New level of support
System Center Advisor uses configuration best practices, compares them to your servers’ configurations, and highlights issues when either SQL Server or Windows Server (Active Directory and Hyper-V) are unpatched, misconfigured, at risk of data loss, or unsupported. Because it is a cloud service, you can access System Center Advisor from anywhere by using a web console and your Window Live ID.
Trial options
Anyone residing in System Center Advisor’s 26 supported countries can sign up for a 60-day free trial. Beyond the 60-day free trial period, System Center Advisor is available only to Software Assurance customers for their entitled server products (SQL Server and Windows Server).
When you use:
Sign up with your Windows Live ID
To begin using System Center Advisor, go to System Center Advisor and use your Windows Live ID to establish your customer account. You may choose to sign up for a free 60-day trial or establish a full service account by accepting the service terms and completing the sign-up process. At any time during the 60-day trial, you may convert from the trial to a full service account. Refer to the Software Assurance Quick Start Guide for details.
Grant access to staff members
Advisor helps increase collaboration among IT professionals in your organization by giving them access to a centralized repository of your deployment configurations. In addition, Advisor can help your staff resolve issues more quickly with instant access to step-by-step guidance, self-help information, and community forums.
Enjoy continuing improvements
Microsoft will continue to extend and deepen Advisor’s functionality with new configuration intelligence and product support over time. While the service initially supports SQL Server and Windows Server configurations, System Center Advisor is expected to grow to support additional workloads. The Microsoft Product List will identify any expansion of product and eligibility rules for System Center Advisor.
