When you use Office 2008 for Mac with Mac OS X Spaces, the Office 2008 applications might not behave as expected. This is caused by the architectural implementation of Spaces in Mac OS X v10.5 (Leopard). Apple is aware of this issue.
Note With the release of Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, a number of Word 2008 for Mac Spaces issues are fixed. For example, when the Formatting Palette is closed, there is improved performance between Word 2008 for Mac and Spaces.
The following are some known issues that can occur when Office 2008 applications are run in Mac OS X Spaces.
When you switch between spaces, the Formatting Palette in Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac might move to another space.
Word might open in front of other application windows that are running in the active space.
