Yasmin's vision for the company is to "Malaysianize Microsoft" and to align our vision, activities and investments with the national objective and agenda;
such as in the development of the country's human capital and in further growing the local software economy. Yasmin, who started her career as an analyst
programmer with a local bank after having graduated with a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics, has the distinction of being the only woman
to date to have received a Key Industry Leader Award from the Association of Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia in recognition of her ongoing
contribution to the growth of the Malaysian Information, Communications and Technology industry over the past two decades. Today, she remains fully
committed for technology to continue making a difference to the lives of the next 26 million Malaysians and to ensure sustained social and economic
opportunities for the nation.
As Microsoft Malaysia's Chief Marketing & Operations Officer, Yasir leads a team that oversees all of Microsoft's product marketing, business planning, public relations, branding, and enterprise marketing programs in Malaysia. Prior to this, Yasir was formerly the Director of Unified Communications business for Microsoft Asia Pacific, the Head of Product Marketing at Microsoft Singapore and Senior Marketing Manager in Microsoft India. He has led some of Microsoft's biggest product launches in these roles - Unified Communications, Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2005 and Exchange Server 2007 - and is passionate that technology builds a better world for us all. A truly global citizen, Yasir has lived and worked in India, Europe, Singapore and has now made Malaysia his new home. Yasir holds a MBA in International Marketing from ENPC, Paris and has worked for Intel, IBM and the TATA Group before joining Microsoft 7 years back.
Dr.Dzaharudin Mansor National Technology Officer
National Technology Officer Dr. Dzaharudin Mansor started his career as a lecturer at the department of Computer Science
at Australia's La Trobe University before becoming a R&D engineer at Telecom Australia Research Laboratories. On returning to
Malaysia, he was appointed R&D Manager at Celcom before being appointed Vice President for the various R&D and IT divisions.
Having graduated with an Honors Degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Australia's Monash University,
Dr Dzahar subsequently completed his PhD in Computer Science at La Trobe University. Dr. Dzahar is passionate about
technology and aspires to contribute towards the nation's Knowledge Economy initiative.
Tyson Dowd Senior Director of Local Software Economy
Tyson Dowd spearheads Microsoft's initiatives to grow the local software economy in Malaysia.
His responsibilities include inspiring, training and growing the developer and IT Professional ecosystem
in Malaysia, and fostering local innovation. Tyson is very passionate about helping to define the role
software plays in economic development and how technology can help people realize their potential. In the
past he has been involved in research and development of core Microsoft technologies in conjunction with Microsoft
Research, and worked throughout the Asia Pacific region to inspire students to tackle issues such as education,
healthcare and the environment with technology and has presented Microsoft technology on six continents.
He holds a Bachelors Degree (Hons) in Software Engineering from the University of Melbourne, Australia,
and has published several research papers on programming languages in international conferences.
