There are 3 methods for reporting Software Piracy. You can either:

Piracy at Markets
If you are reporting pirated Microsoft products found at weekend/night markets you need to supply the following details:
  • The exact location and name of the markets
  • Details of the specific stall at issue or its location within the markets
  • Contact details of the person hosting the stall
  • Business name of the stall, if available
The Microsoft Anti-Piracy Hotline
  • Provides both resellers and consumers with an avenue to report suspected illegal use and distribution of Microsoft software and hardware.
  • Provides individuals who report infringing activity with information on how to protect themselves against piracy.
Microsoft reviews every report of piracy it receives - however, our ability to follow up on leads varies with the quality and completeness of the information provided.The more information you can provide, the better Microsoft will be able to address the report of piracy.We also promise never to use your information for purposes other than to follow up on our investigations of software piracy.

We treat all information supplied to us in the strictest confidence. Where possible, please have the information below ready for the telephone operator when calling the Customer Service Hotline

The Hotline can:
  • Provide basic licensing information.
  • Provide information on how genuine software should be packaged and distributed.
  • Provide information on additional resources for helping to ensure the acquisition of genuine software.
  • Send out educational materials about software piracy.
  • Verify suspicious counterfeit product for customers.
The Hotline cannot:
  • Make a legal determination over the phone or email as to whether software is genuine or counterfeit.
  • Provide any details of an ongoing investigation.
  • Inform you as to whether or not a specific company has been reported for piracy.
  • Provide technical support.
