12 th April 2010 was a momentous event in the history of Visual Studio Microsoft as we kicked-off the World Wide launch of Visual Studio 2010 at Sunway Convention Centre.
Malaysia was chosen as one of the five worldwide launch locations (the other four were Bangalore, Beijing, Las Vegas and London) based on its growing and vibrant developer community. Malaysia is now home to over 60,000 local developers on the Microsoft platform and having the launch here marks Microsoft Malaysia's commitment to galvanizing and maturing the local developer community.
This event showcased Visual Studio 2010 as the best development tool with the objective to reach out to new audiences of testers and designers, and was even streamed live to over 2000 developers in 45 countries. Overall, the event was a huge success and received a 90% approval rating from attendees.

During his short 2-day visit, we managed to receive 13 press coverage and 30 online news coverage. Steve Ballmer also made a private visit to our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, to discuss matters pertaining to the government and the private sector's plans to achieve the goal of an innovation based economy.

Microsoft Web Camps is an event that gives local web developers and other net junkies an opportunity to meet other like-minded individuals, and attend talks with specific focus on topics related to 'working' on the Internet. Our session in December was all about learning how to build websites using the latest web technologies including ASP.NET MVC, WebMatrix, Web Apps, OData, IE9 & HTML5.
The feedback for this session was especially good with 170 attendees attending. Thank you for making the event a successful one.
