Q. What is the country coverage for European edition of MapPoint 2009? A. MapPoint 2009 European Maps edition shipped in January 2009. In brief, the European edition of MapPoint provides detailed street-level maps and address find capability for Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom. In addition, MapPoint European edition provides some street-level coverage, but does not support address find, for Andorra, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Guernsey, Hungary, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Monaco, Poland, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia and Vatican City. Q. What is the difference between MapPoint 2009 with GPS Locator and MapPoint 2009 Standard? A. MapPoint 2009 with GPS Locator includes the Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver. MapPoint 2009 standard does not include a GPS device, but may be used with your existing device provided it supports NMEA 2.0 or later. Q. What is the map and demographic coverage for MapPoint 2009 North America? A. Microsoft MapPoint 2009 North American Maps (NA) includes detailed geographic coverage for the United States, Canada, and Mexico (cities and major highways only). Coverage outside of those regions is limited to political boundaries and populated places. MapPoint 2009 NA uses Navteq data from October, 2007 (2007Q3). MapPoint 2009 European Maps (EU) will be available in January 2009 and will have Navteq data from April 2008 (2008Q1). The Navteq data constitutes the vast majority of the maps. TeleAtlas data is also included for postal codes in MapPoint 2009 NA (vintage April 2007) and MapPoint 2009 EU (April 2008). MapPoint 2009 NA includes more than 200 demographic and consumer profile variables in the United States from data supplied by Applied Geographic Solutions, Inc. (AGS) and Simmons.
