At Microsoft, we’ve closed approximately 75 acquisitions since the beginning of 2000, and the deal volume is expected to increase. We need exceptional talent like yours to help us chart our future course. As a Corporate Development Manager, you will hold end-to-end responsibility for:
Upfront idea generation
Strategic evaluation and business planning
Valuation and M&A analyses and modeling
Structuring and negotiation of term sheets and definitive agreements
Relationship-building with investment banking and venture capital communities
Special projects for business group CFOs and VP

Corporate Strategy Manager

CSG, a team of strategy professionals with a passion for technology, advises Microsoft’s senior executives on the company’s growth strategy, helps launch new businesses and accelerates the growth of existing ones. CSG tackles some of the toughest strategic and operational challenges faced across all of Microsoft’s business groups. Past CSG projects have given life to several high-profile Microsoft products and initiatives, including Windows OneCare™ (subscription desktop management service), Microsoft® Office Live Meeting (web conferencing business through the acquisition of Placeware), Microsoft® Exchange Hosted Services (messaging-related services through the acquisition of FrontBridge) and the Security Business Technology Unit (a 1,000+ person organization). Sponsors of CSG projects are either senior executives of the company (VP through C-level) or the Chairman and Board of Directors.

In this high-profile role, you’ll think across the entire portfolio of Microsoft businesses in order to propose and analyze strategic decisions spanning multiple divisions. Key functional requirements for the job resemble those of an Associate or Junior Engagement Manager at top-tier consulting firms. Some of these include:
Work with business groups, analyze technology trends and data, interview customers and stakeholders, and develop creative solutions to key business issues
Frequent presentations to senior management
Opportunity to manage and run project teams comprised of other CSG individuals and virtual teams across multiple business units
Scope and plan projects and orchestrate the work streams across the team
Share recommendations across the organization to galvanize buy-in and execution
