Product Management
Got a head for what makes customers tick? You can help manage the development of the must-have, cutting-edge products and services they desire. You’ll excel as a Product Manager intern at Microsoft if you’re wickedly smart, with razor-sharp instincts about what makes a good product and how to exceed customer expectations. You’ll direct both colleagues and vendors with keen insight into what makes customers tick. Sure, there is a lot of big-picture thinking and strategy involved, but it’s the little decisions you’ll make under fire every day that’ll set you apart.
With the resources of a multi-billion dollar company behind you, Product Managers have a wide range of responsibilities that differ depending on business group and product evolution:
Direct product messaging and value propositions. Combine your leadership skills and marketing savvy to create and execute overall brand, pricing, placement, and promotion initiatives for your product—backed by a significant marketing budget. Work with various cross functional teams including sales, go-to-market, program management and finance to articulate financial impact of projects and business choices.
Develop mutually beneficial relationships with external partners. Successfully negotiate business terms and technical requirements, design and execute co-marketing initiatives, and collaborate with strategic partners to define next-generation product features.
Define product business models. Directly impact multi-billion dollar franchises as you work with our field organization to drive sales of products and services to a wide range of customers with different challenges: enterprise, medium and small businesses, consumers, third party vendors, partners, and more.
With so many new ideas and products in the pipeline, there’s no limit to the career-expanding potential for a proactive strategic thinker who’s a leader with a solid grasp of the big picture.
