2. Feature That Support Arabic Language:
2.1 Opening Arabic (Multiple) Media File

Windows media player allows opening of all media files with Arabic language names, in addition to list them in a Playlist view. It shows Arabic information and Content (e.g. File Title and Album Info).
Windows media player views names and information’s for a variety of files, Such As Mp3, WAV, MIDI, AVI, MPG, ASF, M3U and WPL.

Steps to open multiple media files:

  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player from All Programs
  3. Click File From the Main Menu -> Open
  4. Select Arabic media music files to open -> Open

2.2 Opening Arabic URL

Windows Media Player Provide can play media form Arabic publishing points for supported Windows Media Player Medias. (E.g. From Windows Media Server URL).

To be able to perform this scenario we used Windows Media Services Series 9 on Windows 2003 to Setup Arabic Publishing Point, and then open The Publishing Point URL from the Windows Media Player Series 9.

Steps To Open Arabic URL:

  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click File from The Main Menu -> Open URL
  4. Enter The Desired Arabic URL (figure.4) -> Ok

2.3 Browsing Arabic Media Files the Quick Access Panel Button

Any media file played in Windows Media Player will be stored in the Media Library. These files can be through Quick access Panel Button.

Quick Access Panel Button displays all Arabic Media Files Sorted by (Album Name, Artists Name, Genre, Playlists, Autoplaylists and Radio Stations) in Lists that are sorted alphabetically. Quick Access Panel Displays Arabic Media Files names, Example in The Figures Below (Selecting Arabic Named artists, Albums and Genres).

Steps to Use Quick Access Panel Button
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click On Media Library Button from The Left Pane
  4. Click on Add Button from The Top Toolbar -> Add File Or Playlist (Select The location for The Arabic Media Files name) Click Ok
  5. From The Left Task Pane Click on The Quick Access Panel Button
  6. Select The Desired Arabic Media From (Album figure.6, Artist figure.5, Genre figure.7)

2.4 Using the Quick Access box area

This feature one of windows media player features that supports Arabic language, which makes it easy for the user to reach all Arabic name playlists available and previously added to the media library through a drop down menu that contains playlists, auto playlists, CD drive that contain audio CD.

Steps To Use the Quick Access Box Area

  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click On Media Library Button from The Left Pane
  4. Click on Add Button from The Top Toolbar -> Add File Or Playlist (Select The location for The Arabic Media) Click Ok
  5. Select File From the Main Menu -> New Playlist
  6. In The New Playlist dialog, Select The Media Files Desired -> Write Arabic name for The Playlist Name -> Ok
  7. In The Upper Right, Select the Quick Access Box Button, From The Drop Down Menu (figure.8), Select The previously Saved Arabic Name Playlist.

2.5 Saving Playlist in Arabic Name

Windows Media player can contain Arabic Playlist names.

Steps to Create and New Playlist
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click On Media Library Button from The Left Pane
  4. Click on Add Button from The Top Toolbar -> Add File Or Playlist (Select The location for The Arabic Media) Click Ok
  5. Select File From the Main Menu -> New Playlist
  6. In The New Playlist dialog (figure.9) , Select The Media Files Desired -> Write Arabic name for The Playlist Name ->Ok

2.6 Create & Customizing New Arabic Auto Playlist

One of the new features in Windows Media Player 9 series is creating an auto-Playlists. Autoplaylists from its name is a list that will be played automatically whenever windows media player is launched. Autoplaylists can be created with Arabic names.

Steps To Create a New Auto Playlist:

  1. Start Windows Media Player From All Programs
  2. Click On Media Library Button from The Left Pane
  3. Click on Add Button from The Top Toolbar -> Add File Or Playlist (Select The location for The Arabic Media) Click Ok
  4. Click on Media Library from The Left Task Pane
  5. In The Tree View -> Right Click on the Auto Playlists node -> New
  6. New Autoplaylist Dialog Launch (Figure.11) -> Write The Name for The Auto Playlist

  7. Select The Desired Criteria -> Ok
  8. Go to The Media Library View -> Click on The Auto Playlist node (Figure.12) to see the Generated Playlist

2.7 Add Media Files from the Media Library View:

Adding Media Files to The Media Library View using the Arabic Language By Several Methods, Such As By Searching the Computer using Arabic Keywords to Search for arabic Media File, Adding existing Arabic Folder to Monitoring Folder, Adding Arabic Folder That Contain Media Files, Adding Media files By selecting Desired arabic Files, and By URL.

2.7.1 Add Media Files by Searching Computer Option

Steps:
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click On Media Library Button from The Left Pane
  4. Click on Add Button from The Top Toolbar -> Choose By Searching Computer
  5. Browse to the Folder That Contain the Media Files (figure.13) -> Press Search.

2.7.2 Add Media Files by Monitoring Folder Option

Steps:
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click On Media Library Button from The Left Pane

2.7.5 Add Media Files by Add URL Option
Steps:

  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click On Media Library Button from The Left Pane

2.8 Searching for Arabic Media Files in the Media Library

Search option in media library view, support s Arabic language when writing a key word for the desired media to be searched for in the media library.
The result will be displayed under the search result node in the tree view.

Steps To Search the Media Library:
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click On Media Library Button from The Left Pane
  4. Click on Add Button from The Top Toolbar -> Add File Or Playlist (Select The location for The Arabic Media) Click Ok
  5. From the Top Toolbar in the Media Library Select Search Button
  6. In The Search Box write The media you Wish To Search for it -> click on Find Now (figure.19) Button

2.9 Sorting Media Files Using Column in Media Library

Using the column headers to sort existing Arabic media files previously added to the media library alphabetically (descending or ascending). Sorting can be using different columns such as title, artist and album column.

Steps To Use Sorting in Column Headers:
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click On Media Library Button from The Left Pane
  4. Click on Add Button from The Top Toolbar -> Add File Or Playlist (Select The location for The Arabic Media) Click Ok
  5. Select from The Tree View All Music Node -> in the Track List View, Click on any Column Header Such as (Artist) (figure.20).

2.10 Edit Media Files Metadata

The Track List View in the Media Library Make It Easy for The User to add and Edit (Multiple) Media Files Metadata using Arabic Language, Such As, Changing Album Name and Artist Name, Genres and Media File Title from the Track List to Arabic Content.

Steps To Edit Media File Metadata
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click On Media Library Button from The Left Pane
  4. Click on Add Button from The Top Toolbar -> Add File Or Playlist (Select The location for The Arabic Media) Click Ok
  5. From the Track List view Select on Multiple Media Files -> Right Click on The Selected Media Files (Right Click Must Be in the Desired Column Such As Album column) -> Select Edit
  6. Write The Desired Name for The Album of The Selected media Files (figure.21) -> Press Enter

  7. For Multiple Track Editing, A Confirmation Message Will appear (figure.22) -> Select Yes ( For Applying to All Selected Track )

2.11 Edit Media Files with Arabic information from the Advanced Tag Editor

Advanced Tag Editor is a New feature in Windows Media Player Series 9, Works Under Windows XP (Home, Professional) operating systems only, that Support Arabic Language to use in all the Areas of the Advanced Tag Editor Feature, Such as Editing Track Info, Artist info, Adding Static Lyrics & Synchronized Lyrics, and Adding Comments Using The Arabic Language.

2.11.1 Edit Track info from the Advanced Tag Editor

Track Info Tab in The Advanced Tag Editor; contain many areas that support Arabic language entries such as (Title, Genre, Subtitle, Mood, Album, Original Album, Set, and Music Category).

Steps for Editing Track Info:
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click on the Now Playing Button from The Left Task Pane
  4. Click On File From The Main Menu -> Click Open, Choose the Desired media File
  5. From the Track List, Right Click on the Media File, Choose Advanced Tag Editor
  6. Select Track Info Tab from the Advanced Tag Editor Dialog
  7. After Adding and Modifying The Track information (figure.23) -> Click OK

2.11.2 Artist info in the Advanced Tag Editor

In the Artist info Tab, fields that support Arabic language are (Artist, Lyricist, Band, Original Lyricist, Conductor, Composer, and original Artist)

Steps for Editing Artist info:
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click on the Now Playing Button from The Left Task Pane
  4. Click On File From The Main Menu -> Click Open, Choose the Desired media File
  5. From the Track List, Right Click on the Media File, Choose Advanced Tag Editor
  6. Select Artist info Tab from The Advanced Tag editor Dialog
  7. After Adding and Modifying The artist information (figure.24) -> Click OK

2.11.3 Add Lyrics from the Advanced Tag Editor

Adding Static Lyrics to a Media File through the advanced tag editor, also support Arabic language, by choosing the Arabic Language and adding the desired text in Arabic.

Steps to Add Lyrics:
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click on the Now Playing Button from The Left Task Pane
  4. Click On File From The Main Menu -> Click Open, Choose the Desired media File
  5. From the Track List, Right Click on the Media File, Choose Advanced Tag Editor
  6. Select Lyrics Tab from The Advanced Tag Editor Dialog -> Click On Add Button
  7. Select The Desired Arabic Language from The Drop down Menu & Write the Desired Arabic Lyrics (figure.25)

2.11.4 Add Synchronized Lyrics from the Advanced Tag editor

Steps to Add Synchronized Lyrics:
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click on the Now Playing Button from The Left Task Pane
  4. Click On File From The Main Menu -> Click Open, Choose the Desired media File
  5. From the Track List, Right Click on the Media File, Choose Advanced Tag Editor
  6. Select Lyrics Tab from The Advanced Tag Editor Dialog -> Click on Synchronized Lyrics Button
  7. In The Synchronized Lyrics Dialog -> Click On Add Button To Add Description
  8. Select from The Language Drop Down menu The Arabic Language & Select The Desired Content
  9. In The Time Line Click The Add Button to Add a New Time Line Value (figure.26)

2.11.5 Add Comments from the Advanced Tag Editor

Steps To Add Comments:
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click on the Now Playing Button from The Left Task Pane

  5. From the Track List, Right Click on the Media File, Choose Advanced Tag Editor

2.12 Editing and Modifying Unknown CD Album information

Windows media Player gives the user the ability to add and modify copied CD Metadata information with Arabic language information using the Album Info Web View, Such As Album Name, Artist Name, Titles of The Song, Performer, and Composer with Arabic Content to the Album info and saving it to The Web.

Steps:
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Plug In the Desired Unknown CD Album in The CD-ROM
  4. Select Copy from CD Button from The Left Task Pane
  5. From The Upper Right Click on The Find Album info Button

  1. In the Edit album info web View, Modify And Add All The Required information Such as (Album Name, Artist Name, Title, Performer, Composer) (figure.28) in Arabic -> Click Next (figure.29) -> Finish

2.13 Edit (Multiple) Track Information from the Find Album info view

The Find Album info View is a New Feature in Windows Media Player Series 9 that support Arabic language, which uses the Web View to edit and modify Media Files (Track Title, artist name, Album Name) with Arabic information.

Steps to Use the Find Album info View:
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click On Media Library Button from The Left Pane
  4. Click on Add Button from The Top Toolbar -> Add File Or Playlist (Select The location for The Arabic Media) Click Ok
  5. Click on Media Library from The Left Task Pane
  6. From the Track List Select one or more file to Edit -> right Click and select Find Album info
  7. From The Find Album info view -> Select Edit Track Information
  8. Write The desired Arabic information (figure.30) -> Click save

2.14 Copy Music from CD to PC Showing Arabic Metadata info

Using the Copy Music from CD feature to copy music from CD to PC, showing and Retrieving from the web Database the Previously Added and Modified Arabic information Such as (Title, Artist, Etc…) through the Find Album Info Web View.

Steps:
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Plug in a Pre-Modified CD album information with Arabic info
  4. Select Copy from CD Button -> The Modified Arabic Info Shows UP (figure.31)

2.15 Specify Arabic Folder to where the Media Files is copied

Windows Media Player accepts copying to folders with Arabic names, trying to use the copy from CD feature, to Copy Music from an Audio CD to the PC in Arabic Folder.

Steps:
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Select Tools From The Main Menu -> Select Options
  4. From The Option Dialog -> Select Copy Music Tab
  5. In The Copy Music Location, Click on Change Button (figure.32) -> Select an Arabic Folder
  6. Click Ok

2.16 Copy Media Files to CD or Device

Copy to CD or Device feature in Windows Media Player support Arabic language in Adding Arabic media files or choosing playlists to be copied to a CD or to be copied to a portable device. This feature needs some requirements such as CD writer drive or a device such as Mp3 player.

Steps for Using Copy to CD or Device
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click On Media Library Button from The Left Pane
  4. Click on Add Button from The Top Toolbar -> Add File Or Playlist (Select The location for The Arabic Media) Click Ok
  5. Click on Media Library from The Left Task Pane -> From The Track List View, Select The Media Files you wish to Copy to CD or Device -> Right Click Those Files, Select Copy to CD or Device
  6. Go to Copy to CD or Device View to see the Media (figure.33)

2.17 Add Arabic Lyrics to Media File from the Info Centre View

The Info Center View is one of the new features of windows media player that shows all the information that exist or that have been modified for a media file from the Info Centre View. Info Centre View support Arabic language in showing Artist Info, Album Info, and Lyrics Content, Arabic Language Lyrics could be added from the Info Centre View.

Steps to add Lyrics through the Info Centre View
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Click on the Now Playing Button from The Left Task Pane
  4. Click On File From The Main Menu -> Click Open, Choose the Desired media File (Arabic Media)
  5. Click on View From The Main Menu -> Info Centre View -> Always Show
  6. From The info Centre View, Select The Lyrics tab button (figure.34) -> Click Add Lyrics -> Write The Desire Lyrics and Click on Save Lyrics

2.20 Arabic Media Files with Minimized Mode Screen

Minimized mode is a new Windows Media Player Series 9 Feature. The following image displays a Minimized mode with Arabic titles in it.

Steps To Use The Minimized Mode:
  1. Right Click on The Windows Task Bar -> Toolbars -> Select Windows Media Player
  2. Press Start button
  3. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  4. Click on the Now Playing Button from The Left Task Pane
  5. Select File From The Main Menu -> Click Open, Choose An Arabic media File
  6. Press on the MINIMIZE button to Minimize the player to the Task Bar
  7. Move the mouse cursor to the Windows LOGO (figure.36) to Show Up The Screen

2.21 Change the License Management Backup Folder

The License Management is one of The Area That Support Arabic Language, In Backup the License Management Files to a folder with Arabic name or Restoring License Management Files from a folder with Arabic name.

Steps To backup License Management Files:
  1. Press Start button
  2. Select Windows Media Player From All Programs
  3. Select Tools from The Main Menu -> License Management
  4. In the License Management Dialog, Click on Change Button to Change The Folder (figure.38) to Where license is Backed up

3. Other Areas that have Arabic Limitations

3.1 Arabic Limitation in the SRS WOW effects

The SRS WOW effect in one of the Enhancement effects in the Windows Media Player 9. This effect can be turned on & turned off. After Turning on this effect, the TURNED OFF title gets overlapped with the NORMAL SPEAKER title.

3.2 Arabic Limitation in the Skin Minimized mode

The Skin Minimized Mode (Skin Chooser) in the WMP 9, Show all the Skins Available for the user to use. All the Skins names in the list of the Skin Chooser View are all in English names, they should be localized.

3.3 Arabic Limitation in the DVD properties


DVD feature is one of the Option in the WMP9 that are not included by default when the WMP 9 is installed, DVD section need 3rd Party Application to force WMP9 on adding the DVD feature. Compatible Software are supported by Microsoft Windows Media website

Unfortunately not all the Dialogs of this feature are localized, the Advanced Options in the only Dialog that is not localized, and all the dialog is in English.

3.4 Arabic Limitation in the REVERT Skin

Revert Skin, is one of the skins support by the WMP9 localized. Revert Skin Equalizer Window have an Overlapping, between the Volume Title and one of the Title number of the Equalizer.

Arabic Limitation in the Skin Mode Open Dialog

The Skin Mode in the Windows Media Player Do the Same main options of the Normal mode. The Skin Mode has one of its main features that are not mirrored. This Feature is the OPEN DIALOG, this limitation affect all the skins in the WMP 9, Open Dialog can be accessed by Right Click on the Skin Screen and Choose Open.
