Introduction

Microsoft BackOffice Server 2000, the server suite optimized for the Microsoft Windows® 2000 operating system, reduces the cost and complexity of building, deploying, and managing integrated and scalable IT solutions for your branch office, department, and medium-sized business. This release integrates Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Server and the latest Microsoft® server products, including Microsoft® Exchange 2000 Server, Microsoft SQL Server® 2000, Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000, Microsoft Systems Management Server 2.0 with Service Pack 2, Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 and many other value-added suite features, including: intelligent scenario-based setup, MultiServer Planning Wizard, BackOffice Server Management Consoles and related management wizards, Health Monitor 2.1, and Server Status Views and Reports.

This product was designed with full attention to the globalization, and this gives the ability to support all the languages, supported by Microsoft® Windows® 2000, out of the box, including the Arabic language.

The purpose of globalization is to achieve a single, worldwide code base. The Microsoft® BackOffice® Server 2000, released in the US, also runs satisfactorily on any local version of Windows® NT. Given the appropriate platform support and system configuration, users will be able to enter and manipulate local data irrespective of their native language, character set, or locale.

In the white paper we are going to describe how far the Microsoft® BackOffice® Server 2000 supports the Arabic language, can we depend on this product to manage an Arabic environment system? And what are the limitations remains if any.
