Introduction:
Microsoft Office Excel 2007 is a powerful tool, the user can use it to create and format spreadsheets including Arabic information, with full localized new results-oriented interface, rich data visualization, and PivotTable views, Professional-looking charts are easier to create and use. With Office Excel 2007 and Excel Services, the user will be able to navigate, sort, filter, input parameters, and interact with PivotTable views directly on the Web browser using the Arabic language.

New Features and Arabic Support
Results-oriented user interface
The new results-oriented user interface is full localized in Arabic, this feature makes it easy for the user to work in Microsoft Office Excel. Commands and features that were often buried in complex menus and toolbars are now easier to find on task-oriented tabs that contain logical groups of commands and features. Different dialog boxes are replaced with drop-down galleries that display the available options, and descriptive tooltips or sample previews are provided to help you choose the right option and they are all available in Arabic language.


More rows and columns, and other new limits
Office Excel 2007 supports up to 1 million rows and 16 thousand columns per worksheet. Specifically, the Office Excel 2007 consists of 1,048,576 rows and 16,384 columns, which provides Arabic text with 1,500% more rows and 6,300% more columns than user had available in Microsoft Office Excel 2003, columns now end at XFD instead of IV.
To improve the performance of Excel, memory management has been increased from 1 GB of memory in Microsoft Office Excel 2003 to 2 GB in Office Excel 2007.


Office themes and Excel styles
This feature allows the user to create professional-looking Arabic documents. It's also easy to create your own theme for a uniform, professional look that can be applied to all of your Excel workbooks and other 2007 Office release documents. When you create a theme, the color, font, and fill effects can be changed individually so that the user can make changes to any or all of these options to match the general or Arabic style required.
Steps to create a new theme:
- On the Page Layout tab, point to Themes, and select which theme you want to use.
- Click on Save Current theme to save the theme.


Rich conditional formatting
To easily find exceptions and to spot important trends data in Arabic language or any other language, also can implement and manage multiple conditional formatting rules that apply rich visual formatting in the form of gradient colors, data bars, and icon sets to data that meets those rules which appear in the correct right to left (RTL) reading order as expected for the Arabic language.
Steps:
- Highlight the range of data that you want change the conditional formatting.
- On the Home tab, navigate to Conditional Formatting menu.
- Expand this menu then select Data Bars.


Improved sorting and filtering
In Microsoft Excel 2007 the user can quickly arrange worksheet data to find the required answers that he needs by using enhanced filtering and sorting. For example, the user can sort data by the Arabic alphabetic order or by color and by more than 3 (up to 64) levels. The user can filter using the Arabic alphabets, color or by Hijri dates and display more than 1000 items in the AutoFilter drop-down list.
Steps to sort:
- Highlight the range of data that you want to make sorting.
- In Home tab, navigate to Sort & Filter.
- Sort the data from A to Z or Z to A.

Steps to Filter:
- Right click on the in which you want to filter data.
- Select Filter, and then Filter by Selected Cell's Value.



Excel table enhancements
Table header rows can be turned on or off. When table headers are displayed, they stay visible with the data in the table columns by replacing the worksheet headers when the user move around in a long table, Table header rows can display the Arabic data correctly in and with the expected reading order.
Steps:
- Create Table, then navigate to Design tab.
- Uncheck the check box Header row if you want hidden the header rows.


Better printing experience
Office Excel 2007 provides a Page Layout View which supports the Arabic language to facilitate for user to create a worksheet while noticing how it will look in printed format. In this view, the user can work with page headers, footers, and margin settings right in the worksheet.


Easy formula writing
Although the built-in function names are not translated in Arabic but it supports Data in the Arabic language, It can deal easily with the functions such as "Search", "Len", "Upper"...etc.


Cell Formatting to Hijri date
Microsoft 2007 Excel support Hijri date including UM AL-QURA calendar where the user can set the format for any cell to display the date in the preferred date.
Setting format Hijri date
- Right click on the cell that inside the sheet.
- Select "Format Cells", in Number tab navigate to Date.
- Set the local settings "location" to be Arabic (your country).
