Introduction:
This paper presents how Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 supports the needs of the Arabic region or users who need the Arabic language. It describes the new features in PowerPoint that supports the Arabic Language. To help the users produce professional-looking presentations, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 provides a comprehensive set of features that the user can use to create and format information. The user can create and add designer-quality SmartArt graphics with only a few clicks on the mouse and they are all available in Arabic language.

To use Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, you will need:

Proofing Options:
The Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 spelling checker includes the post-reform Arabic dictionary.
To use this feature simply follow these steps:
- Click the Microsoft Office button .
- Navigate to PowerPoint options.
- Click on Proofing, Expand Arabic modes dropdown list and select any mode you want to use.


New and improved effects
You can change the look of the Arabic text or WordArt by changing its fill, changing its outline, or adding effects. In Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 you can also make these changes to text on a slide the Arabic language appears readable and effective with these effects such as shadows, reflections, glows, or the three-dimensional (3-D) effect.
To use this feature simply follow these steps:
- Create new slide then navigate to Format tab.
- In WordArt, expand the dropdown list and select which effect you want to use.


Themes and Quick Styles
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 comes with new themes and Quick Styles. Themes simplify the process by creating professional presentations. All the user has to do is to select the theme that he\she wants, and with one click, the Arabic text format changes to reflect the selected theme and the user has more options of themes that can be applied on Arabic text.


Header and Footer
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 supports the Hijri date where the user can set the date in the header and footer to display the date in Hijri format.
Note: Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 supports also Um Al-Qura date if you have Vista operating system.
To use this feature simply follow these steps:
- Create new Slide, and then navigate to the Insert tab.
- Click on the Slide Number.
- In the Header and Footer dialog point to Slide tab.
- Enable Date and Time and set the date to be Hijri or Um Al-Qura.


SmartArt graphics
Now, with SmartArt graphics, the user can create illustrations of that information which supports displaying Arabic titles and the Arabic text inside the SmartArt graphics presentation simply and without the aid of a professional designer. The user can add amazing visual effects to that SmartArt graphics, shapes, WordArt, and charts, including three-dimensional (3-D) effects, shading, reflections, glows, and more.
Steps:
- Create new Slide, then point to "Insert" tab.
- Click on SmartArt, and select which design you want to use.


Note: SmartArt graphics includes a content pane that the user can use to change the text inside the SmartArt.


Arabic text search inside a presentation
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 allows the user to search in the text inside the presentation, this can be done through the Find dialog (can be opened by selecting the Home tab->Editing -> Find or by the shortcut key CTRL+F), By default Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 ignores diacritics, Kashida, Alef Hamza above, Alef Hamza below, and Alef madda while searching for Arabic text in the presentation, The user can specific the Arabic text search from the find dialog with the following options:

Match diacritic Specifies whether you want PowerPoint to match diacritical marks when searching for an Arabic text.
Match Kashida Specifies whether you want PowerPoint to match Kashida (tatweel) characters when searching for an Arabic text.
Match Aleph Hamza Specifies whether you want PowerPoint to match Alef characters with Hamza or madda when searching for an Arabic text.
For example, if the user wants to find a word that begins with Alef and specified "match Alef Hamza ", then the word will not be matched if it begins with Alef Hamza above, Alef Hamza below, or Alef madda. If it is specified, you must enter the correct form of Alef for a match.

Share information effectively
Save as PDF or XPS
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 supports exporting the file to the following formats:
- Portable Document Format (PDF).
- XML Paper Specification (XPS).
Also the user will be able to save the file to (PDF) and (XPS) with Arabic file name.


Note
when the user saves the presentation to (PDF) or (XPS) these formats can display the
Arabic data correctly and with the expected reading order, but the user can't change the
contents of the exported file.


Protect and manage information
Add a digital signature to your presentation
The user can help provide assurance as to the authenticity, integrity, and origin of the presentation by adding an invisible digital signature to the presentation, the user can easily add Arabic digital signature which appears in the correct right to left (RTL) reading order as expected for the Arabic language, Digital signatures provide a record of exactly what was signed, and they allow a signature to be verified in the future.
To add an invisible digital signature to a document
- Click the Microsoft Office button
, Point to Prepare and then click Add a Digital Signature.
- If you want to state your purpose for signing the document, type this information in the box under Purpose for signing this document in the Sign dialog box.
- Click Sign.



Prevent changes to a final version of a document
Before the user shares a final version of the presentation with other people, the user can use the Mark as Final command to make the presentation read-only and communicate to other people that, people who view the document cannot inadvertently change the document and they are all available in Arabic language.
To enable this feature, simply by following these steps:
- Click on Microsoft Office button
, Point to Prepare.
- Click Mark as Final, if you want to prevent any modification to the document then click ok.
This icon appears for you if a document is marked as final.
