Dubai, United Arab Emirates — 10 April 2012 — Microsoft announced today the launch of Waha Store, the e-commerce website exclusively dedicated to Windows Phones, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Launched in response to growing consumer demand for Windows Phones, Waha Store brings these devices to customers in the region for the first time, delivering amazing experiences that help people do more of what they love.

Waha, which means “oasis” in English, will provide a convenient and reliable online destination for consumers across the country to purchase the latest Windows Phone devices from a variety of manufacturers. The website will offer customers secure warranties with their purchases. Additionally, they will be able to arrange delivery of purchased phones direct to customers. Shoppers who visit Waha will also have the option to choose from a variety of wireless providers.

“We are very pleased to bring Windows Phones to smartphone consumers in the UAE, where there has been growing excitement about their launch,” said Samer Ramez Abu-Ltaif, Regional General Manager, Microsoft Gulf Region. “Customers are eager to see for themselves how Windows Phones put people first; and they want an easy and reliable way to browse and purchase the latest handsets. Waha Store provides exactly that – it’s your Windows Phone oasis.”

Visitors to Waha Store will enjoy a range of user-friendly features that make browsing and shopping simple and fun. They will immediately get a feel for the Windows Phone operating system, since the site’s smart interface mirrors its fresh, bold colors and elegant ‘tiles’ known as the ‘Metro’ design. In addition, shoppers will be able to compare models, read reviews, and watch demo videos to get a good understanding of the product range and features. The website will also feature an integrated social media platform to enable customers to share their recommendations with family and friends.

Windows Phone’s fresh approach and innovative design make sharing and connecting easier and faster than ever before. The new user navigation bundles the things users care about most—like people, music and photos—and make them one tap away on a dynamic homepage. This integrated design puts people first by allowing users to focus more on their lives and less on their phones. With access to thousands of apps in the Windows Phone Marketplace, which will be available in the UAE soon, and features like built in social media access and Internet Explorer 9, the Windows Phone Smartphone is a perfect all-rounder.
