AXA Group

Financial Services Company Streamlines Employee Information Provisioning
With the help of an identity-management solution based on Microsoft® Identity Integration Server (MIIS) 2003, AXA Financial, one of the world’s leading providers of insurance and other financial products and services, is automating the management of its identity life-cycle processes, synchronizing identities across enterprise stores, lowering administrative costs, and simplifying the sharing of strategic information with business partners. Overall, the MIIS identity-management solution is helping AXA Financial centralize and consolidate business rules and establish a foundation for further streamlining of its employee identity information practices.

Children’s Hospital Boston

Children’s Hospital Streamlines IT Authentication, Eliminates Manual Processes
Children’s Hospital Boston, one of the most successful pediatric hospitals in the United States, supports its clinical and administrative activities with a range of IT applications. Access to these was traditionally managed using a Sun iPlanet directory, but isolated islands of identity information made it difficult to authenticate users effectively. To address this, Children’s deployed a platform-independent directory service based on Microsoft® Active Directory® Application Mode. Children’s also implemented Microsoft Identity Integration Server 2003 to automatically synchronize data between systems. As a result, identity information is accurate and up-to-date, helping ensure compliance with regulatory legislation. In addition, manual data management has been reduced by 75 percent, freeing administrators to focus on value-added development activities.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS)

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Accelerates Time-to-Learning with Access Management
One of the secrets to successfully educating students from kindergarten through twelfth grade is to treat each pupil as an individual, and to bring a personalized approach to the education curriculum. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) in Charlotte, North Carolina, has garnered a national reputation for excellence in a dynamic and diverse demographic environment. In 2005, the district harnessed the power of identity and access management to optimize its students’ chances of getting the education they need to thrive in today's global, digital society. Microsoft and Microsoft® Gold Certified Partner Version3 played a key role in parlaying an investment in single sign-on technology to deploy an integrated identity and access management system that has contributed to world-class educational results across all grade levels.

EBAY INC

Online Marketplace Manages Disparate Identity Information Using Integration Server
eBay manages identity information for its internal workforce using disparate systems that require synchronization to provide a single view of employee information. Due to its rapid expansion, eBay’s internally developed synchronization engine became difficult to maintain and was lacking in scalability, supportability, and manageability. “We grew so fast, we had to find the best tools on hand to solve our immediate problems,” says Diego Vinas, Project Manager for eBay. Faced with the task of finding a replacement for its synchronization engine, eBay’s Centralize People Database (CPD) project team engaged Unisys, a Microsoft® Gold Certified Partner. Unisys implemented Microsoft Identity Integration Server (MIIS) 2003 as the single source for employee identity information, thereby offering eBay a scalable, maintainable solution that simplifies management and improves efficiency.

Avanade

Technology Integrator Saves $1.2 Million Annually with Automatic Provisioning
One year after its inception in 2000, technology integrator Avanade faced significant financial and productivity challenges as a result of manually provisioning user identity information. To address these issues, Avanade developed a custom application that delivered automatic provisioning. However, by 2005, the company’s continued global expansion sparked new identity management challenges. Rather than updating and continuing to support its custom provisioning application, the company deployed Microsoft® Identity Integration Server 2003 to rapidly provision employee and contractor accounts, address security issues, and allow for easier integration of new systems. As a result, Avanade is saving U.S.$1,218,000 annually, providing timely access to resources, expediting the creation of distribution lists by up to 95 percent, reducing support calls by 80 percent, and improving security.
