Tools for connecting with Microsoft Money
This section contains utilities that enable various versions of Microsoft Money to connect to your OFX server.
  • MNN Tool Kit - last updated 10/11/2007
Money does not make a PROFRQ to OFX servers. Instead, use the MNN Tool Kit to create local files that provide profile type information to Money. You can also use this tool to create a local FI list for your institution so that Money can locate your test profile information This download also installs documentation explaining how to use these utilities.
  • Money Registry Keys - last updated 07/8/2007
Microsoft provides our partners with several Windows Registry keys that you can use to toggle test settings on and off. Download this zip file which includes all the following keys.
  • ProvLogs.reg & NoLogs.reg
You must turn on automatic logging to log calls in Money 2004-2007. When enabled, Money will log all outgoing calls until disabled. Double-click ProvLogs.reg to enable and NoLogs.reg to disable automatic logging in Money.
Important Note: In Money 2006-Money Plus, you need to run the ProvLogs.Reg file every time you launch Money 2006 or open an new Money file. For security reasons, Money 2006-Money Plus will automatically turn off logging upon file open and close.
  • TestFIs.reg
Money 2005-Money Plus maintains all branding data on our branding servers and no longer utilizes a file based branding system. If your server has a test site which you use on an ongoing basis, contact moneyfi@microsoft.com to add your test server to our production branding server with a flag indicating that they are test entries. To see these entries in the FI lists displayed on our servers, you must run TestFIs.reg to see your institution name before your live date.
  • LocalFIListFile.reg & NoLocalFIListFile.reg
If you want to connect Microsoft Money 2005-Money Plus to a temporary test server, you must use a local FIList, which you can create using the MNNTool mentioned above. Run the LocalFIListFile.reg to use a local list, and NoLocalFIListFile.reg to return to the list on the Microsoft servers.
  • Secure.reg & NonSecure.reg
The OFX.dll driver for US versions of Money requires 128-bit encryption. However, during development and testing, a final Verisign 128-bit SSL certificate is frequently not available. Double-click NonSecure.reg to disable Money's requirement for a 128-bit certificate and Secure.reg to turn back on Money's communication using 128-bit encryption. We do request that you have a valid SSL certificate installed by the time you submit your server for our OFX Certification Audit.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Money does not require nor recommend the OFX certificate. Money only requires a standard 128-bit SSL certificate. We have received reports of Money users experiencing errors when trying to connect in Money to servers using the new OFX-G2 certificate. This has been isolated to customers with Win98 systems running Internet Explorer 5.0. Our support team has found that upgrading to Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 has resolved the errors in Money.

For additional information about using this tool and in troubleshooting errors seen in Money when the OFX Analyzer does not detect any errors, see the OFX Troubleshooting document.
