Chapter 13: Creating Financial Reports
Reports home
Money can create reports on just about any financial topic you can imagine. There are many ways to generate reports with the information in your Money file. You can create reports with pie charts, bar graphs, or line charts, and you can customize each report. You can choose from many categories, such Income and Expenses, Assets and Liabilities, Investment, Taxes, and Cash Flow. To get started, click Reports to get to the Reports home page.

Tip |
| Microsoft Money 2006 includes two
different ways to look at your reports: Essential Reports and
Advanced Reports. Essential Reports provide the simplified
financial overviews most users need while Advanced Reports
provide in-depth financial reporting. To learn more or switch
between these views, in the left pane, under Other Tasks, click Change Report Settings. |
Essential Reports
The Essential Reports home page provides an at-a-glance view of Spending by Category and Spending by Payee charts. Some of the report types that Essential can create are:
- Spending by Category or Payee. See how much you paid in specific categories or to individual payees.
- Net Worth. See how your assets stack up against your liabilities.
- Credit Card Debt. Track how much you owe on credit cards
you've set up in Money.
Advanced Reports
The Advanced Reports home page contains several different report categories:
- Income and Expenses. Reports on your spending and income, including
categories and transactions.
- Investments. Portfolio value, performance, asset allocation, and
more.
- Taxes. Capital gains, loan interest, and additional reports to help
file your taxes.
- Comparison Reports. Review your spending across two separate time
periods.
- Monthly Reports. A financial summary automatically generated by
Money each month.

| When the magnifying glass appears, hold your mouse still for a moment over a chart or graph to display a pop-up that displays additional information. For example, hovering over the monthly expenses pie chart displays the exact amount of money spent for the month in each category, and the percentage for that category compared to the total spending for the month. |
