Tracking and managing inventory

Now that you have a list of vendors, you need to enter your products and services. After you enter this information, you can track the sales by item, profitability, and value of your remaining inventory.

To enter your products and services:

  1. Click Business, and then click Products & Services.
  2. Click New.
  3. Select A service, A non-inventory product, or An inventory product, based on the type of product or service you are adding to the list. Then click Next.
  4. Enter the name, description, category, and price for this item. To charge tax for this product or service, select the Taxable check box.
  5. Click Finish.

When you have finished, your screen should resemble Figure 14-3. Click an option under Analyze value in the left pane to create inventory-specific reports, including inventory value, sales by item, and profit and loss statements. If your inventory increases or decreases, select the item on this list and click the Update Inventory button so that Money can keep your records up to date.
