Following are questions that people commonly ask about Microsoft® Agent in general or those that don't easily fit into the other categories of the characters from Microsoft, custom characters, speech, application development, licensing and distributing Microsoft Agent. Contents
Will Microsoft Agent be available for operating systems other than the Microsoft Windows® 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT®, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003?Microsoft Agent is currently only available for these Microsoft Windows operating systems. Is Microsoft Agent available in either the Windows CE or PocketPC platforms? No, the Windows CE and PocketPC platforms lack essential COM (server) services which Microsoft Agent is built upon. Note, PocketPC systems may include client software for Windows Terminal Servers. In this configuration, a Microsoft Agent character (and possibly its audio) might be remoted in some instances from the Windows Terminal Server to the PocketPC. Why doesn't the system requirements for Microsoft Agent list the Microsoft Windows® XP, Windows 2000, and Windows Me operating systems? The purpose of listing the system requirements is typically to inform users of the minimum operating system requirement necessary to enable the functionality of the software being installed. In these Windows operating systems, Microsoft Agent is already installed automatically and does not need to be installed again. The operating systems listed in the system requirements did not already install Microsoft Agent and computers running these may require its installation. Will Microsoft Agent be available in other languages?Microsoft Agent includes support for other languages than (U.S.) English in its core services and speech input and output engines. Check the downloads page to see which languages are supported for core services, text-to-speech and Speech Recognition. For information on additional language speech engines compatible with Microsoft Agent that are available from other vendors, see Other Speech Engine Support. Also, see the Frequently Asked Questions about languages in particular. How do I uninstall Microsoft Agent?Microsoft Agent 2.0 has been designed to be a Microsoft operating system component. As a result, once it is installed it cannot be uninstalled. On operating systems where Microsoft Agent already is an integral component (e.g. Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Me), it also cannot be uninstalled.
