Dwayne Simeon was raised at Cape Mudge, B.C., near the city of Cambell River. He was born in 1961. His mother was a James from Guilford Island - a Kwakwaka'wakw; his father was a Masset Haida. Dwayne studied Northwest Coast carving with Tony Hunt, Jr., John Livingston, and Calvin Hunt at The Arts Of The Raven workshop in Victoria, B. C.

Dwayne concentrates on woodcarvings and paintings; although he is also a jeweler. All of his work is done in the Southern style.
